From the President By Jim Bradley, Interlake #1376 With the arrival of the winter weather, some of you will seek out warmer waters, but if you're like my son, Let me introduce myself as you're now just waiting for the water to freeze in order the new president of the ISCA for the ice boating season to start. for 2008-9. My family has been involved with the Interlake since the early 1970s when my father started sailing Wednesday night races on the Maumee River in Toledo and continued his passion for the sport by joining Jolly Roger Sailing Club. Since that time, both my brother Bob and I have been active in the class and have passed the sailing tradition on to our families. I consider it an honor to be your president and I hope to fill this position to the best of my abilities. Wow! Where has the summer gone? I am writing this after just crewing for my son, Bryan, in the George Fisher Memorial Invitational Regatta. I would like to congratulate Skip Dieball on his win and to thank to all the skippers and crews who raced. Special thanks go out to all the members at Hoover Sailing Club who did an excellent job of hosting this great event for a good cause. The George Fisher Endowment will further these commitments. Our immediate goal is to raise money for an Interlake boat grant program. This program will provide young sailors with the opportunity to experience Interlake racing and the Interlake Class. Young sailors can apply on the Interlake website for a grant that will provide them with the use of a competitive Interlake for one season. They will also be assigned a mentor and may receive some funding for expenses and registrations. The Memorial Regatta and the new boat raffle are the first major fund-raisers for the foundation.
