Merry Christmas!
Yes, it is the beginning of a new calendar year, but more
importantly, it is the Season of Christmas! Christmas is not a day, it
is a season in our lives and in the life of the church. All too often
we see the Christmas season as the time leading up to the day of
Christmas. In fact, the Christmas season begins with Christmas and
goes on for 12 days. Hmm – the twelve days of Christmas. This
will lead us into a series of feast including the Holy Family and the
Baptism of Jesus.
This is a wonderful celebratory time in the life of the church and it
should likewise be in our personal lives. I beg you to not allow the
lowliness that many experience following Christmas to creep into
your lives, but rather to allow the continuum of the celebration to
brighten and excite your lives. This is the time to proclaim the Inside this issue
Good News that Christ has come and Emmanuel (God Is With Us).

I would also encourage you to feast upon the season at hand. Just as
we fill our bodies with food to sustain us, so we too must fill our

Do not let the celebration end. This is the time that our anticipation
has carried us to, live in it, love it and
allow it to bring you new life.

Iniciamos este 2018 en el nombre del Señor, pedimos que nos
ayude a ser mejores cristianos, mejores personas y que nuestros
proyectos sean exitosos. Este año también lo iniciamos
encomendándonos a la Sagrada Familia de Nazaret, porque es
desde la Familia donde podemos proyectar lo mejor de nosotros.
Me encanta la expresión que se acuñó al decir que la “familia es
Iglesia doméstica”, porque es donde echan raíces los valores
cristianos, donde se pone a Jesús en el centro para que sea Él
quien guíe y sostenga este núcleo de vida y amor. La frase de San
Juan: ”Dios es amor” es más que suficiente para empezar a
evangelizar, para hacer posible el Reino aquí y ahora. Donde hay
amor, ahí está Dios.
Nosotros debemos elegir, desde nuestra libertad, vivir y presentar
la novedad y grandeza del Evangelio, de una forma alegre. Esto
requiere fervor, amor, comprensión, humildad.
Los más pequeños de nuestra familia han de ser nuestro principal

La fe también es una semilla que requiere su tiempo de
maduración, no se le ha de meter prisa, pero tampoco
abandonarla a su suerte. Cuido, atención, respeto y libertad.
Siempre es duro para unos padres cristianos cuando algún hijo se
aleja de la fe. También el hijo pequeño se alejó en la parábola del
“Padre pródigo”, y lo digo así, no “el hijo pródigo”, porque el
verdadero protagonista es el Padre.
El Padre siempre espera, mira el camino, se lanza al abrazo nada
más al ver al hijo. Yo confío plenamente en ese mirar constante
que sabe a vuelta al hogar. Ahí reside la hermosura y la dureza de
