       MERRILLVILLE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ANNOUNCMENTS.

  Mini Doughnuts, Whole Grain Bagel, and Pop tarts. Choice of Fruit or Juice, and Milk.

DEADLINE- No Exceptions -
The deadline date to turn in guest permission slips for Homecoming is

Monday, September 16th by the end of the school day.

No forms will be accepted after Monday at 3:00 p.m.

              Attached is the information for requesting music for Homecoming.

                    Instructions for Requesting Music:
   Open web browser and type http://www.wrightdj.com in the address box and press the “Enter”
   button on your keyboard or click the “Go” button with your mouse. This should take you to the
   Wright Entertainment home page.

   On the main page on the right side you find the button button that says "Guest login" This will take
   you to the login page.
1. Enter the event date September 28, 2018 and your password, which is MHC2019. When you
      have entered all information correctly, click the “Login” button.
   2.   Now that you are in the online event planner page, you can select music.
   3. Just close the window to log out of the event planner.

Selected songs will be put in a database and the most selected will get played at the dance.

ACADEMIC-

EX TRA CURRICULAR –

This Friday's football game vs. Portage is the first Mark Event of the school
year! Freshmen vs. sophomores vs. juniors vs. seniors! The class with the highest attendance will
win this Mark Event -- show up to the game with Pirate Pride and be sure to check in with the class
sponsors before halftime!
Congratulations to the Marching Band-of-Pirates. They brought home a Silver
trophy at their first competition this past Saturday.

Our Color Guard also achieved their highest opening season score ever with a 101...!
WAY TO GO - PIRATES..!!!!
Class of 2022
There will be a meeting for the Class of 2022 this Wednesday morning in A112. We will be
continuing to discuss plans for Homecoming and events for the year. If you are interested in having
your opinion heard, please plan to attend this meeting. If you have any questions, see Mr. Unterfranz
in A112.

Quiz Bowl
Do you like trivia? Remember HQ? If you answered 'Yes' to either of those questions, than Quiz Bowl
is the team for you. There will be a call-out meeting next Tuesday afternoon in A112. If you have
any questions, please stop by and speak with Mr. Unterfranz.

Art Club will be meeting on Wednesday Sept. 11 from 3- 4 pm. in room FA202. New members are
welcome.
Science Olympiad is having a short meeting on Today after school in Ms. Water’s room E206. To
give out 2020 rules and decide on practice days.
Attention FCCLA members: The regular FCCLA meeting will be Today from 3:00 to 3:30 in
room M 118. New members are still welcome.

SADD Club-

Students interested in Joining the SADD Club. Students against destructive decisions are invited to
join us for a meeting to discuss homecoming in room D102 this Today from 3:00 until 4:00.

Y.E.S. Interact Club is having a call out meeting Today, September 10th from 3:00 p.m. - 3:45
p.m. in room M104. Bring a friend, come learn about the Y.E.S. Interact Club, meet other
students and enjoy some Nachos! If you enjoy community service, this could be the club for you! We
look forward to meeting you. If you have any questions, please contact sponsors, Ms. Jordan or Mrs.
Maldonado in the main guidance office.

YEARBOOKS-

2018-19 yearbooks have arrived. If you ordered a yearbook, you can pick it up at lunch time
outside the main cafeteria today or after school in Room M108. A limited number of books
are still available if you would to purchase one see Mrs. Skertic in M108.

Student Government will be meeting from 3-4 PM after school in the Main Arena on Sept 11.

STAND LEADERS will be meeting from 3-4 PM after school in the Main Arena on Sept 11.

PIRATES COVE-

The Pirates Cove will be open to students before and after school for beverages.

Krispy Kremes-
Attention all students who like Krispy Kremes Doughnuts: If you would like to order a dozen Krispy
Kremes for $8.00, go to room M 118 after school today.

GUIDANCE –

COLLEGE VISITS-
A representative from the University of St. Francis Fort Wayne will be in the commons area outside
of the main cafeteria during both lunches on Today, September 10th.

Representatives from Indiana University Bloomington and Anderson University will be in the
commons area outside of the main cafeteria during both lunches on Wednesday, September 11th.

A representative from the US Army will be in the commons area outside of the main cafeteria during
both lunches on Monday, September 16th.

A representative from Indiana State University will be in the commons area outside of the main
cafeteria during both lunches on Monday, September 16th.

A representative from Purdue Fort Wayne will be in the commons area outside of the main cafeteria
during both lunches on Friday, September 20th.

A representative from Livingstone College will be in the commons area outside of the main cafeteria
during both lunches on Tuesday, September 24th.
Seniors,
The Lilly Scholarship application is now active. The Lilly Scholarship provides full tuition, required
fees, and a special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books and required equipment for
four years. Scholarship recipients must apply for a full-time course of study to begin in the fall of
2020 at an accredited public or private college or university in Indiana. To apply, students must have
at least a 3.25 GPA and an ACT of 22 or (P)SAT of 1050. The application is available now
through September 9, 2019. The application can only be accessed
at http://www.legacyfdn.org/scholarships.php

ACT-

Juniors and Seniors,
MHS will host the ACT on September 14. Although the initial deadline has passed, you have a few
days remaining for late registration with an additional fee. Log onto www.actstudent.org to register
for the ACT.
SAT-
MHS will be hosting the SAT on Saturday, October 5. The deadline to register is Friday, September
6. If you are a student that receives free or reduced lunch services, you may take the exam for
free. See your counselor for an SAT fee waiver. To register for the SAT, log
onto www.collegeboard.org
COLLEG FAIR
All students are invited to Crown Point High School on Wednesday, September 11 from 5-7 pm for a
College Fair. Almost 100 colleges. Universities, trade, and military representatives will be available
to share information.

ATHLETICS-

BOYS BASKETBALL
Freshman boys’ basketball players will attend conditioning on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
No conditioning for freshman basketball players today.

FIELD TRIP

The following students will be asking teachers to sign a field trip slip for Wednesday, September 11 to
attend an IHSAA Student Leadership Conference in our building. Students will be out of periods 1-3.
