Year 9 Bronze Participants
Most students should now be finalising their sections for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award (“the Award”). In
order to complete the Award, students will need to have logged all the required hours on the Online Record Book
and then emailed the final report to their Assessor for the activity. The Assessor will complete a short report
indicating that you have completed all required hours and have achieved the goal you set with them at the beginning
of the Award. The completed and signed report will then be sent to Mr Harris by email, or in hard copy, and be
approved by both the school and the International Duke of Edinburgh Award Office.
As I have indicated previously, I encourage you to download the “ORB Participant” App from the Apple Store or
Google Play. It is a very convenient way to keep track of your Award progress and to log your hours. Please see Mr
Harris, Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator, if you have any questions.
4-Day, Year 9 Bronze Canoe – Kangaroo Valley
It is extremely exciting that Year 9 this year will have the opportunity to undertake a 4-day canoe in the Kangaroo
Valley, in Week 3 of Term 4. This trip forms part of the schools compulsory Outdoor Education program but also
will fulfil the requirements for obtaining the Adventurous Journey section of the Bronze Award. Notes have now
been sent home via email and with students, so please contact Mr Harris or Mr Duane Bailey (Year Coordinator),
if you have not received a copy.
Students will learn canoe skills, camp craft, safety on the water, navigation and a sense of adventure. It will be a
real highlight for the year and for their time at school.
If you have any questions about the Duke of Edinburgh Award or the upcoming Canoe Trip, please contact Mr
Harris on 02 6331 2766 or via email charris@scots.nsw.edu.au.
Thank you,
Mr Harris (Year 12 Coordinator)

Under 7s
In our last game of the season, the Blues played the Cubs. The Blues were slow to start in the first half and this
enabled the opposition to score rapidly throughout the half. Eventually, the team clicked into gear and lifted for the
remainder of the game. Strong performances from Jackson, Lelia and Rory enabled some goals to be scored. Elsie
lifted and stopped an opposition goal with some great defensive work. Sebastian was physical in his defensive
work as well with some great tackling. The Blues have come a long way since the beginning of the season and have
improved their skills whilst learning to work as a team. I commend all the players for their commitment each week
to both trainings and games. Well done.
Under 8s Spurs
Mr Hemsworth joined us for the final game of the season and it was great to celebrate the season with a strong
performance and nice, little ceremony at the end of the game. Elleesa made some of the greatest saves of the
season as goal- keeper in the first half. Collegians fired some powerful shots at her and she managed to save them
on several occasions. The Spurs worked hard in defense and played safely towards the sidelines when under
pressure. Every player should be proud of their achievements and improvement throughout the season. I hope all
players enjoyed themselves and will return to the field next year. Thank you to all the parents who supported each
week on the sidelines.Integration Activities Day photos . . .
SCOTS ALL SAINTS COLLEGE SWIMMING PROGRAM
If you nominated your child to participate in the Scots All Saints College Swimming Program for Terms 4 and 1
as their summer sport option, Mrs Sharon Inwood would like to meet and assess the students next Monday, 24th
September to ensure they are placed in a suitable group.
The assessment will be held at the Scots Indoor Swimming Pool, it will be a very brief observation (5-10 mins
only), of your child in the water with Sharon and/or her teaching assistant.
To avoid families all arriving at the same time, could you please follow the timeframe below.
Once Sharon has assessed your child she will be able to place your child in an appropriate swimming group.
Your child’s swimming session time will be sent through via email in Week 1 of Term 4. Swimming lessons
will begin in Week 2 of Term 4. Please ensure that your child has their swimming costume, goggles (if you have
them), a towel and something warm to change into after the assessment. There are change rooms and a toilet in
the Scots Indoor Swimming Pool.

Hockey . . . Grand Finals Back-to-back-to-back! The 1sts hockey made it three grand final wins in a row with a dominant and clinical display against Souths. In the first minute of play Bridget Ellis scored off a penalty corner. After 10 minutes it was 2-0 through a goal to Sophie Hillsdon. The pressure was relentlessly applied as Hannah Kable scored twice before half time for a 4-0 lead. Conscience of the goal scoring capacity of the opposition, the girls ratchetted up a notch at the start of the second half and two more goals to Hannah created an unassailable 6-0 lead with 20 minutes to go. Souths scored a consolation goal with 12 to go but Hannah put the icing on the cake with her 5th goal of the grand final with 2 minutes to go. The final score line of 7-1 was thoroughly deserved, given the superb team hockey that the girls displayed. Every single player made a vital contribution to the season and the grand final win. Clare Mawhood was again rock solid in defence, while Bridget was steady in midfield. Sami Porter fought through pain to create many opportunities. Rosie Webb was busy creating distractions and making space for the rampant Hannah Kable. The rock and foundation, as always, was the Corbett-Jones twins who simply would not have allowed the opposition to win. Their swooping cover defence will be a lasting memory. A large crowd of supporters, many first time hockey watchers, left very satisfied with a classy victory with a new respect for this talented bunch of athletes. With that victory, All Saints’ has contested 13 grand finals in 8 seasons. Of those, the girls have won a remarkable 12 titles. Of those titles, Sophie Hillsdon, Callie Molkentin and Kate Hodges have one each; Ellen Morris, Simone Gardner and Hannah Kable have two each; Emma Harrison has three; Gabi Burge has five; Rose Denovan and Bridget Ellis have six each; Natalia Burgess has seven; Lucy and Rachel Corbett-Jones have won ten from eleven attempts; and Sami Porter has a remarkable ten from ten. While it was a continuation of the success of All Saints’ Hockey it was also the dawning of a new era of Scots All Saints Hockey with Belinda Kidd, Brooke Webb, Clare Mawhood, Mel Bateman, Olivia Warry, Rosie Webb being a vital part of a terrific 1st XI grand final squad. The combination has turned a strong outfit into an unbeatable outfit. This is a symbol of the good things that will (and have already) come from the merging of these two great schools. Further individual achievements were announced following the grand finals. Hockey Association Awards were presented to Hannah Kable (Highest Achieving Player), Bella Taylor (Runner Up Best and Fairest), Clare Mawhood (Runner Up Best and Fairest), and Bridget Ellis (Encouragement Award). Bridget also received the district under 18 Team Award. Finally, Scots All Saints College received the Club Championship for a remarkable 5th year in a row. Most importantly, they are a great bunch of girls, in each of our hockey teams. It has been a pleasure to be associated with another great season.
CRICKET . . . SCOTS ALL SAINTS COLLEGE -- First Fixture
SASC First XI
The first cricket fixture as Scots All Saints College took place with a trial match between the First XI and St Stanislaus
College First XI. After 40 overs, St Stanislaus had scored 204 runs, with several wickets having been taken by the SASC
bowlers, all of whom got at least one wicket each. Whilst the St Stanislaus bowlers had difficulty taking wickets, they did
succeed in keeping the run rate down.
The day was facilitated by a number of parents who assisted with scoring, barbecuing and preparing lunch, and the team
thanks them for their contribution. Mrs Cant’s jellies were very well received.
