FARE THEE WELL!
THEIR PAST YEARS helming the Club did not go unappreciated,
as 128 members and invited Captains of the SGA golf clubs
gathered on Saturday 2 May to thank Mr Bob Tan and Mrs Helen
Tan for their leadership, contribution and dedication during their
tenure as SGC Captain and Lady Captain respectively.
A decade has passed from the time Mr Bob Tan and Mrs Helen
Tan first assumed their roles and as a tribute to their past long-
term commitment, staff from the Golf Agronomy and other SGC
departments lined up along Serapong Hole 9 to wish them well.
Whether with golf equipment in hand or from their work vehicles,
the staff cheered them on as they played out the finishing hole.
With their departure, Dr Wong Yik Mun takes over the role of
SGC Captain while Mrs Lyn Sen assumes the mantle of Lady
Golf Captain for the term commencing 1 April 2015. Precious Moments: Mr Bob Tan receiving a memento from

NEW COUNTRIES, SAME GOALS
By Kyi Hla Han
Chairman, Asian Tour
OUR 2015 SEASON is starting to go
into full-steam mode and good news
continues to swing the Asian Tour on the
upward trend. Besides our ‘homecoming’
to Sentosa where we’ve now settled
comfortably into our serene surroundings,
the Tour is gearing up for an exciting run
of events in the months to follow.
We recently announced a return into
Vietnam following a seven-year lapse for
the inaugural US$1.5 million Ho Tram
Open which will be played at The Bluffs
Ho Tram Strip, a two-hour drive south of

Ho Chi Minh city. Following up on that
terrific news, the inaugural Bashundhara
Bangladesh Open was also launched to
make it five new Asian Tour tournaments
in our 2015 season.
It is always exciting when we visit a new
country and Bangladesh is a country Siddikur Rahman
we’ve heard a lot about, thanks to our
Asian Tour star Siddikur Rahman. The
staging of an Asian Tour tournament
takes a lot of planning and deliberation Thongchai Jaidee Anirban Lahiri
but it is our hope that the sponsors, golf
fans and local players enjoy the wealth
of knowledge and experience by watching
and playing with the best from Asia.
One of the goals of the Asian Tour is to
unearth future stars of the game and
Siddikur is one of the rare gems who has
crafted a superb career by playing and
enjoying great success on the region’s
premier Tour. His rags-to-riches tale is
well known to many and his down-to-
earth personality has earned him plenty
of fans across Asia.
On the international stage, Thongchai
and Anirban have enjoyed some good
results by making the cut in the year’s first
Major tournament and produced battling
performances at the WGC-Cadillac Match
Play. The Thai and Indian won one out of
three matches but did well to push their
opponents to the limits.
Things are certainly looking positive on
the Asian Tour with new tournaments Sentosa is home to the Asian Tour,
official sanctioning body for professional golf in
joining our Schedule and our members Asia. Sentosa Golf Club also holds the distinction
featuring prominently on the global of being the first Asian Tour Destination in
stage. Now we will hang tight and watch Singapore, the Tour’s exclusive network of world-
new talents break through. class golfing properties around the region.
