LUTHER VILLAGE INFORMATION
Luther Village was incorporated in 1964 and has since been serving Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario and the mid-
western states. Luther Village is a ministry of the Manitoba Northwestern Ontario (MNO) Synod of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Canada. We welcome groups of any denomination as a means to share in the spirit of Christian
hospitality.
Our Mission
Under God’s grace, Luther Village exists to provide Christian ministry in a harmonious outdoor setting to give all
individuals the opportunity for growth and renewal of mind, body, and soul.
Our Vision
Luther Village is God’s sanctuary! It is a vibrant Christian community where all are welcome!
Accreditation
We are an accredited camp with the Manitoba Camping Association/Canadian Camping Association. This means we
undergo an extensive accreditation process to ensure we meet industry standards for safe and professional operations.
Donations
Luther Village is a registered charity and relies on donations to offer the programs and facilities that we do! Donations
of any amount are graciously accepted and can be made in a variety of ways.

Page | 3SITE INFORMATION
The Luther Village Campground is open from May Long Weekend – Thanksgiving Weekend each year. Access outside
of these dates will only be granted if permission is requested and approval given prior to arrival on site.
The Luther Village Campground has three types of sites. This process and the three different campsites are new to
the 2020 season and will be under review to see if the process works for the Luther Village community and campground.
Daily Rental Sites: These sites are open to anyone and are rented at a daily rate or weekly rate and can be booked
from 1 night to several weeks (2-week maximum during Family Camps).
Yearly Sites: These sites are rented out from May Long weekend – Thanksgiving Weekend each year and are open
to anyone. Yearly sites must be applied for each year and are awarded through a draw system. Applications are
accepted on a set date each year with no guarantee of the same, or any, site being granted in subsequent seasons.
Winter storage options are available on-site at Luther Village for an additional fee.
Seasonal Sites: Seasonal sites are renewable each year and trailers may remain on the sites as long as the lease is
held. There is no term length on the seasonal sites. Leases are non-transferable.
Additionally, there are four locations where camping takes place around Luther Village -
Lower Campground –
The Lower (main) Campground has 10 Seasonal, 4 Yearly and 7 Daily Rental Sites. The sites have potable water,
sewer hook ups and 30amp service.
Upper Campground –
The Upper Campground has 3 Seasonal, 2 Yearly and 2 Daily Rental Sites. The site has potable water, 15amp service
and fire pits provided. An outhouse is a short walk from the Campsite.
Ball Field –
The Ballfield (overflow camping) has 2 Yearly Sites and is mainly used for group camping or overflow camping on long
weekends. These sites have no water, no power. There is an outhouse located on the Ballfield.
Lakeshore –
There are 2 Daily Rental Sites that are located along the lakeshore. These sites have potable water and 15amp
power. The main washroom facility is close to these sites.

There are several value added services in having a spot at Luther Village – perhaps explaining why camp sites are in
such great demand!
Part of a Community – The feeling that many people describe as the best part of Luther Village is the sense of
community. Watching children from around camp play together on the beach; having a morning coffee while reading
the newspaper and chatting with fellow campers outside the Office; arranging a viewing party for ‘the big game’. It
doesn’t take long before everyone becomes friends!
Worship Service – Sunday morning worship services are offered on the beach where the LV community comes
together to sing and share their love of creation.
Family Camp Programming – During the five weeks of Family Camp in July and August, campers are invited to
participate in any and all program activities – from attending Morning Jam to a pontoon tour of Dogtooth Lake and
everything in between! There’s lots to do, regardless of age!
Evening Snack – Snack and fellowship is shared with everyone in camp during Family Camps. Gather in the Dining
Hall for a tasty treat and to chat with fellow campers – and meet some new friends!
Friday Potlucks – Share with the community at our Friday evening Potlucks during Family Camps! Bring a dish to
share with those in camp – LV will provide the hamburgers and hotdogs and basic toppings!
Meals in the Dining Hall – Tired of cooking? Sign up for a meal in the Dining Hall during Family Camp, for a small
additional fee! Several exciting dinners take place throughout the week to entertain the whole family!
Access to the Lake – Being right on the water of beautiful Dogtooth Lake has a list of benefits all of its own! Head out
fishing for the day, go for a long distance swim, or go on an overnight canoe trip! You can rent canoes, kayaks, standup
paddleboards and fishing boats in the Office to help you make the most of lake life!
Supervised Waterfront – Weather permitting, every afternoon, Monday-Friday, during Family Camp, we offer
supervised swim time, where there is a lifeguard on duty to keep an eye on swimmers.
Dock Spot – You have the option to rent a dock spot for a day, month or the season. Seasonal and Yearly campers
have their own dock system with limited spaces.
Winter Storage Available – Winter storage of trailers, boats and motors is available, for an additional fee, so you don’t
have to haul everything home with you at the end of the season, and its ready for you come spring!

Page | 6EXPLANATION OF SITE SELECTION PROCESS
From December 1st to January 22nd, 2020 Luther Village will accept Long term Camping applications. Application MUST
accompany a $100.00 application deposit, to be considered.
ONLY ONE application per family is permitted. For the purpose of the application, the term “family” is generally defined
as parent(s) and children under the age of 18.
If you are interested in a YEARLY Site (one year lease):
1. Review the Campsite Rental Agreement.
2. Go to www.luthervillage.ca to submit your application for a camp site.
3. Following the due date for the site applications, a computer program will be used to randomly assign an
order to all of the applicants. The Executive Director, together with at least one board member or
staff member, will facilitate the process. The "successful" applicants will, in order, be assigned a
site based on their ranking and availability of the requested site. Should a successful candidate
withdraw for any reason, the top stand-by applicant will be next in line for the available site.
4. Each successful applicant will be informed of their site for the upcoming season.
5. If there are sites remaining, the equal number of applicants from the standby list, in order, will be
assigned a site based on their ranking and availability of sites.
6. At the close of the process all Yearly Sites will be allocated and the standby list informed that they
will only be contacted if someone withdraws at a later time. Those applicants on the standby list
can then choose to remain on the standby list or be removed.
If you are interested in a SEASONAL Site (continual lease):
1. Review the Campsite Rental Agreement.
2. Go to www.luthervillage.ca to submit your application/renewal for a camp site.
3. Confirmation of seasonal leases and sites will be provided as applications are received.
4. If there are no available seasonal sites, your name will be added to a wait list and you will be contacted
once a site becomes available. At this time, you can choose to be entered into the Yearly site draw.
** For the 2020 season, all new potential site holders for a SEASONAL Site will be selected through a draw
process.

Rules and Regulations for the Luther Village Campground
Quiet hours are from 11pm-7 am Sunday to Thursday and 12am – 8 am Friday and Saturday. No excessive
noise at any time. If a response to request to quiet down is not adhered to, site holders and/or their guests
may be asked to leave.
Alcohol and cannabis may be consumed in a site holder’s site. Alcoholic beverages and the use of cannabis
are not permitted in any other areas, including program areas such, as the campfire and beach. The legal
age in Ontario is 19. We have a zero tolerance policy for any illicit drugs and/or hallucination producing
stimulants and/or misuse of prescription drugs of any kind. Guests will be asked to leave immediately.
Fires are permitted in designated areas only, including your own contained fire pit. That is, your own personal
“temporary fire pit” cannot be constructed in the campground out of rock or otherwise. Do not dump burned
wood/ash in the bush.
Pets must be on a leash/tether at all times. It is the responsibility of the owner to clean up after the pet and
to ensure that the pet does not disturb others. Pets are NOT allowed on the main beach. Luther Village
requires a copy of proof of rabies vaccination.
Only one vehicle is allowed per campsite at any one time. Other vehicles are to be parked in the main parking
lot during Youth Camps or up the hill in designated place during Family Camps. Do not use a vacant site to
park.
A maximum of three units per site, of which two must be tents, is allowed on each site.
No boats or boat trailers are to be parked in the campground.
If using the trailer/tent/site with another family, it would be appreciated if guests made a donation for use of
electricity, programs, snack, etc. This is the responsibility of the site holder to request this of their guests.
Subleasing or renting is not allowed. You are free to let others, such as family and friends use your camping
unit in your site, but you are not allowed to remove your camping unit to allow another party to bring another
in its place. All those who use your site are bound by the same rules and regulation listed in this agreement.
The site is non-transferable and non-refundable. If this agreement is terminated by Luther Village due to
failure to comply with the rules outlined above, no refund will be given.
A site holder may not build any structure on their site with the exception of a step or platform, which will be no
more than 8 feet wide/deep and no longer than the length of their trailer and must be portable or collapsible.
Step or deck plans must be approved by the Executive Director prior to the commencement of construction.
Any deck or step built must be removed by site holder upon forfeiting of site.
Repair fee will be charged for any ruts, holes or other impacts to the site resulting from the site holder’s
occupancy.
All site holder’s sewage pipes must be hard piped (no flex pipe)
All site holders and guests must check in upon arrival and overnight guests are required to register in case of
emergency.
All property, including RVs, trailers and boats are not covered under Luther Village’s insurance policy. If any
damage occurs to them from storms or other causes, it is the site holder’s responsibility.
Luther Village may withdraw a site holder access at any time at its sole discretion and is not obligated to
refund camping or other fees where the conduct of the permit holder, other persons identified in the
agreement, or guests to the campsite, is deemed to be detrimental to the operation of Luther Village.
Page | 8 Luther Village has the right to ask a site holder to move their trailer and/or other structures/tents on the site at
it’s sole discretion at site holders expense.
Site holders shall maintain their campsites in a clean, sanitary and safe condition at all times.
Only equipment designed and intended for the purpose of camping or similar outdoor recreational activity may
be placed on a campsite. No person shall place or erect any shed, portable building, fence or similar barrier,
or other structure on a campsite.
The site shall not be landscaped or physically altered in any way.
Wildlife is present in and around the campground. DO NOT feed any wildlife and always maintain and leave
a clean site.
Campers are requested to use reasonable judgement in the use of water and electrical services, to minimize
consumption costs and not to exceed the capacity of the systems provided. Luther Village may restrict the
use of power within the campground, specifically the use of air conditioners, depending upon the number of
campers and the draw on power. Please respect the posted restrictions or request, should this be necessary.
One electrical fridge or cooler at each site only - No supplemental fridges or freezers.
Hot water tanks must be run on propane.
Campground occupants agree that the owner, Luther Village Inc. shall not be liable to the renter or to any
other person for any claim, demand, damages or rights to causes of action, whatsoever, arising out of or
incident to, or in any manner connected with, or directly or indirectly caused by this agreement, or caused by
or resulting from our incident to the use and occupancy of the rental area. The renter further agrees and is
obligated to keep harmless and to indemnify the owner against any and all claims, liabilities, demands,
damages or rights or causes of action whatever made or asserted by anyone arising out of or incident to this
agreement or the use or occupancy of the rental area.
AGREEMENT
By renting a site at Luther Village, you agree to the following -

Purpose: To ensure a healthy and safe environment at Luther Village, and within its programs, and spaces.
While on Luther Village owned and operated property, out-trips or field trips, the participants or group agrees to refrain
from the following:
- Violating the Luther Village Safe Space Policy
- Thwarting, or attempting to thwart, the rules, policies, processes and practices put in place by the Luther
Village Board of Trustees or Executive Director
- Consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages outside of private accommodations
- Consumption or possession of illegal drugs or stimulants
- Use of inappropriate language or gestures
- Smoking in any buildings or on the grounds, other than the designated smoking areas
- Reading, viewing or possessing pornographic material
- Littering, destruction of wildlife or nature, or hunting
- Manipulating any application process or forms to increase the chances of successful booking
- Working with other applicants in a process to decrease the chances of a fair and open opportunity for all
applicants and participants
- Engaging in any behavior contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Participating in any one or more of the above listed points will render the individual, renter and/or group in breach of
Luther Village Code of Conduct. Consequences and actions due to a breach of the Code of Conduct will be at the
discretion of Luther Village staff and/or Luther Village Board of Trustees and will be based on the degree of undue
hardship the breach has or may not cause Luther Village. Actions may include, but are not limited to, an individual
and/or group being asked to leave the grounds and pay for all damages related to their actions and be requested to
fulfill all financial obligations, even if their stay is cut short due to a breach of our Code of Conduct.
Page | 10LUTHER VILLAGE SAFE SPACE POLICY
Purpose: To identify and limit unacceptable behaviour at Luther Village, creating a safe space for all participants.
At Luther Village, we are committed to providing an environment in which every participant is respected and entitled
to receive fair and equitable treatment. The Luther Village Board of Trustees recognizes the right of all participants in
its programs and facilities to participate in a safe, caring, and respectful environment. A safe, caring and respectful
environment is free of unacceptable behaviours including, but not necessarily limited to, violence, harassment,
bullying, unethical behaviours that undermine trust relationships, behaviours that contravene the Canadian Human
Rights Code, and/or any other behaviours deemed unacceptable or inappropriate in nature.
Harassment is defined as objectionable conduct that creates a risk to the health of a person or severe conduct that
adversely affects a person’s psychological or physical well-being.
Bullying is defined as repeated and targeted harassment and/or attacks on others, inflicted by indivduals or groups. It
can include any of the following behaviours: physical violence and attacks; verbal taunts, threats, intimidation; sexual
harassment; extortion or stealing of money and/or possessions; exclusion from the peer group; racially or ethnically
based verbal abuse. Electronic or Cyber bullying can include the sending or posting of harmful emails, threatening
text/image messages.
Examples of other unacceptable and/or inappropriate behaviours include, but are not limited to: unwelcome comments
or jokes; cursing, taunts, name calling; refusing to work or talk to persons; making insulting gestures; verbal or written
abuse or threats; insulting comments, jokes or gestures; personal ridicule, spreading rumors and/or gossip; refusing to
cooperate with others; persistent and excessive criticism; verbal abuse; deliberately excluding or isolating people;
withholding information; acting to deliberately inconvenience specific individuals; shouting at people, emotional tirades,
temper tantrums; condescending attitude.
Any of the above listed behaviours directed towards participants, staff and/or volunteers will be taken seriously. The
role of the bystander(s) who passively support(s) or actively encourage(s) the misconduct of others will also be
addressed.
Luther Village shall ensure that a full and complete investigation of all complaints occur, and if necessary, take
appropriate corrective action in all cases where complaints are substantiated upon investigation. Luther Village shall
ensure, so far as it is reasonable practicable, that no participant is subjected to any of the unacceptable behaviours
listed above. All participants have an obligation to intervene in situations where unacceptable behavior(s) is/are directly
observed or overheard and are encourage to report incidents.
