If you enjoy the finer things in life or are simply seeking a mountain getaway with all the
trimmings, our Luxury Backcountry Trekking trips will deliver an unforgettable Kiwi hiking
experience. Nestled on the edge of Mount Aspiring National Park, Whare Kea Chalet is in big
mountain country accessed by a breathtaking 15-minute helicopter ride. It is the perfect base
from which to hike the stunning backcountry of the Southern Alps by day before returning each
night to a sumptuous meal and cosy night’s sleep.

We use the comfortable chalet as our base for
exploring the wilderness surrounds for breathtaking
day hikes before returning each evening for a hearty
dinner and comfortable night’s sleep before we get up
to do it all again!
Views from the surrounding terrain take in the glaciers
and peaks of the nearby Mount Aspiring across the
Southern Alps to Aoraki Mount Cook.
EQUIPMENT
Trekking in the Southern Alps requires good quality

Our focus is on having the essential clothing and
equipment, whilst keeping pack weight as light as
possible for your comfort and ease of travel.
We will provide an equipment list as a guideline to
your equipment requirements. Group equipment is
provided and we carry a good range of modern rental
equipment. If you will be renting equipment from us,
please advise your requirements in advance to ensure
correct sizing and availability.
TRAVEL
We commence our Luxury Backcountry Trekking trips at

Air New Zealand and Qantas/Jetstar provide daily
services to Queenstown from Auckland, Wellington and
Christchurch airports. There are also direct flights from
most major Australian cities.
A shuttle service operates several times daily between
Queenstown and Wanaka (approximately one hour
driving time and at a cost from NZ$35 each way), check

Bus services operate daily between Christchurch and
Wanaka (approximately 6 hours travel time).

FITNESS & HEALTH
To make the most of your experience, we encourage
working on your fitness prior to the trip.
Your guide places special focus on fitness levels and will
regulate the pace accordingly.
Our registration form requests that you advise us of any
medical problems you may have and of any medications
you are taking. Any information you supply will be
treated as confidential.

2 NZ$2,950 NZ$3,650 To confirm place on this trip, we require a completed
3 or 4 NZ$2,550 NZ$3,100 registration form with a deposit of NZ$1,000 per
5 NZ$2,350 NZ$2,900 person. The balance payment of is due 60 days prior to
the trip start date.
NOTE: All prices are subject to change without notice. CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY
The price of your trip includes the following: A trip member may then cancel their participation on
the following basis:
• Guide and permit fees
• Helicopter flights in and out • Cancellations outside of 60 days incur a NZ$250
• Return transport from Wanaka office to staging area cancellation fee.
• Exclusive use of Whare Kea Luxury Chalet • For cancellations made within 60 days of the trip
• Meals while in the mountains commencement date, we reserve the right to retain
• 15% NZ Goods and Services Tax 50% of the full fee.
• For cancellations made within 30 days of the trip
The price of your trip does not include: commencement date, we reserve the right to retain
75% of the full fee.
• Personal equipment (clothing, day pack, sunblock etc.) • For cancellations within 15 days of the departure date
• Alcoholic drinks (BYO) a cancellation fee of 100% of the full fee applies.
We recommend you take out trip cancellation insurance
