MAITLAND FC V ADAMSTOWN ROSEBUD - WPL Round 17 Sunday 1 August 2021
WELCOME TO COOKS SQUARE PARK
A very busy weekend of football for all of the Magpie supports in this
region. We look forward to completing a successful 2 days and 1 night
of football at Cook’ Square Park with some exciting games today.
I request that all attending the games today stay mindful of the COVID
protocols. QR scanning, social distancing and hand sanitising are a
critical component of our lifestyle today. We need to remember how
fortunate Hunter Valley residents are, that we have not been impacted
as much as those of the Greater Sydney Region.
What a wonderful inaugural season it has been for our Maitland WPL
teams. Three out of the 5 teams in contention for a semi final position.
It certainly sets up today’s games as very competitive and exciting.
It has been particularly pleasing to see how well all the WPL players
have enjoyed this first season as Magpies. Their spirit and enthusiasm
is infectious.
A particular note to the effort by the U13s and U15s teams with raising
$9,000 in a fundraising exercise towards the Hunter Breast Cancer
Foundation.
Madi Gallegos has been one of the stand out 1st team players this year.
It seems that a severe muscle tear will now keep her out of the side for
the rest of the season. The camaraderie of the playing group is
highlighted with the fence sign of “Lets do it for Madi”. A sign of a great
team and club spirit, and one that we hope drive us all on to a great
performance today.
Good luck to both teams.

Ray Watkins,
MFC President
