           Synopsis of the Ballet:
A Modern Day Adaptation of the
         Classic by Lewis Carroll
Awakened by her alarm clock for the third time, Alice presses the snooze
button once again. She falls back asleep only to be startled by her mother who
alerts her that she is late for school. Making her day worse, Alice receives a
less than desirable test grade and is reprimanded for her tardiness and poor
technique in ballet class.
Upon arriving home, Alice’s mother discovers her bad grade and sends her
to her room to study. Upset and disinterested in her school work, Alice falls
asleep and dreams of a place where everything is absolute nonsense.
Throughout her dream, Alice is on a quest to catch up with a fleeting
White Rabbit. As she chases the Rabbit, Alice encounters many curious
characters along the way. She joins a caucus race led by the Dodo Bird and is
introduced to the Tweedles who command her undivided attention.
Finally escaping, Alice wanders into a garden of dancing butterflies and
flowers, and a Caterpillar who helps her grow from her now miniature size. She
seeks direction from a Cheshire Cat that misguides her to find the Duchess and
Cook whose antics are rather disturbing.
After escaping the peppery kitchen in a whirlwind of sneezes, Alice
stumbles upon the Mad Hatter, March Hare and Dormouse who host a never-
ending tea party that is exhausting. Ready to give up, the White Rabbit stops
by the party and Alice follows her to the Queen’s palace where she catches some
dancing playing cards painting white roses red.
Not wanting the cards to get caught, Alice helps them in their painting
frenzy. When the Queen discovers what Alice has done she challenges her to
a croquet match to determine her fate. Frightened by the Queen, Alice runs
away but is captured by the playing cards, turn her over to the Queen.
Victorious in the croquet match, Alice is afraid that she will not win
her trial. She tries to escape Wonderland and is chased by all those she has
encountered along the way.
Then suddenly, Alice is awakened in the comfort of her own bed by her
mother. Hopeful for a better day, she then tells her family of her adventures
in Wonderland. Alice’s family tries to convince her that she was just dreaming
when the White Rabbit appears fleeting through Alice’s bedroom.

Every Adventure
Requires a First Step.
                                         - Cheshire Cat

To the MYB Class of 2021:
I am proud to have walked with you through this
part of your adventure and am excited to see where
your next steps take you. You each have unique gifts
and are ready to make your mark on this world.
Always believe in yourselves, even when things seem
impossible. And remember, if you’re not sure where
you’re going, any road will get you there.

To Erin, Laila, Rachel and Ava:
We’ve been on this ballet adventure together since
the beginning. It’s so hard to imagine MYB without
you, but I know you will continue to shine brightly
in all you do.

Love,

Ms. Nadia
