Desert Dance Theatre was founded by four ASU dance graduates: Billbob Brown,
Dotti Anderson, Margie Romero, and Debbie Schofield. They focused on education
and entertainment through their work. DDT served as an outlet for dancers to perform
professionally and fill an artistic and cultural void in the communities throughout Arizona.
Soon DDT gained a reputation for creating meaningful works — especially the still-running
Sister Moses: The Story of Harriet Tubman. For 40 years DDT has provided quality educational
and community programs and services in schools and communities throughout Arizona. We
are inviting you to celebrate this important milestone and help us to continue our work.
Celebrate with us. Tickets start at $75. More information here or call 480-962-4584. Photo

the new Scottsdale Arts Collaborative Community

both artists seek to find agency in life, love, identity, and
patience.

              NATIONAL TAP DANCE DAY EVENT
National Tap Dance Day is celebrated
on May 25th of every year. The date
of May 25 was chosen because it

Robinson. The idea of National Tap Dance Day was first
presented to U.S. Congress on February 7, 1989, and
was signed into US-American law by President George
H.W. Bush on November 8, 1989. In recent years,
Tap Dance Day is also celebrated in other countries,

Movement Source Dance Company recently brought "Our Stories" to the Tempe History

from our guiDANCE mentoring program, spoken word and live music accompanying the
dance. It was exciting to bring dance into a non-

moving evening. Photos by Michael Simon
