 Michigan’s Fastest Track Camp
 Age: 8-14
Michigan’s Fastest Track Camp aims to encourage our
youth to pursue active and healthy lifestyles by introducing
them to the world of track and field, giving them a general
knowledge of proper running form, and guiding technique
in 4 different field events. The kids will be involved in
different workouts, stretching, drills and games to help
improve their strength, coordination, endurance, and
flexibility as they learn about some of the most common
track and field events. Even though track and field will
be the main focus of this camp, it is not exclusively for
athletes. This camp is for kids of all skill levels as we will
be playing games and learning about healthy living and
 eating.

Fencing | Age: 7-15
Learn the weapon wielding skills of Knights, Pirates and Jedi seen on the silver screen! Modern art of fencing teaches strategy,
finesse, skill, and endurance. Known as “Physical Chess,” fencing teaches children and teens life skills such as confidence,
focus, and respect along with improving balance, flexibility and mental agility.
In the long run, fencing becomes a problem solving and decision-making process. In beginning fencing classes, students learn
the fundamental art of fencing, including footwork, blade work and mental strategy with fellow novice fencers with all equipment
provided but not shared among participants (very important).

Professional coaches, Mikhail and Arkadiy Sarkisov, former Soviet Champions and US Cadets and Junior National team
coaches are among the instructors. This class will be combined with other Parks and Recreation Departments. Class will be
held at Grand Rapids Area Fencing Academy (GRAFA) located at 1345 Monroe NW, Suite 102, Grand Rapids, MI 49505.

It will be determined closer to the start of each session whether classes will be held indoors at GRAFA. It will be contingent upon
the current Executive Order in place. If classes are not indoors, it will be combination of outdoor and Zoom classes. During your
session, GRAFA will provide equipment. A full set of equipment will be issued to the student for their use throughout the class.
The equipment will go home after each class for the session. The student must return washed equipment at the end of class.
