Test Match
ENGL AND v WEST INDIES
4th - 8th June 2020
start 11am close 6pm
92 years since playing their first Test Match at The Oval – a game in which
England won by an innings and 71 runs with Jack Hobbs making 159 – the West
Indies will feature again in South London, a place where they have a rich history.
The ground is a Stone’s throw from the traditional heartlands of African-
Caribbean London. From the 1950s, families arrived, and Caribbean cricket
fans regularly packed out The Oval as their heroes dominated. The West Indies’
first series success in England came in 1950 when they sealed a 3-1 series
victory at The Oval by defeating England by an innings and 56 runs.
From Viv Richards 291 runs in 1976, to Michael Holding taking 14 wickets in
the same Test Match, The Oval has proved a home from home for the West
Indian team.
One-Day International
ENGL AND v IREL AND
SERIES
15th September 2020
start 1pm close 8.45pm
2020 will be Ireland’s first ever appearance at The Kia Oval as they take on
England in a One-Day International. Whilst England will be confident in the 50-
over format since their World Cup win in 2019, Ireland will want to mark their first
match in South London with a victory. Sam Curran has become an important player for England since making
his Test debut in June 2018. The all-rounder was even named Man of
the Series as England defeated India 4-1 in 2018

GROUND TOURS
The world has changed a lot in 175 years, as has the Oval. The strands of our
rich history have been woven into a fascinating tapestry as the Oval has grown
from a market garden into one of the leading global sporting venues. Hundreds
of thousands of fans visit our ground each year to get a taste of our famed
atmosphere, but a Kia Oval Ground Tour gives the opportunity to find out so
much more about what makes our venue such a brilliant sporting arena.
For you, as a Member of our great club, a Kia Oval Ground tour gives you even
more access to the rich history of the ground and the stories that have been
written into folklore. Some you many know, but many you may not be familiar
with and there will be areas of the ground that you cannot access on a normal
visit to the ground. Enjoy visiting the broadcast suites, the dressing room and
the committee room to see where the media, players and dignitaries experience
the Oval from.
