 MINISTER’S MESSAGE

From the desk of Rev Claire Dawe

 ELDERS/PASTORAL CARE

An opportunity to offer your skills to provide pastoral care
The Elders and Pastoral Care portfolio have developed the MUC Care Network with the aim of providing care
to people associated with MUC when they have specific needs. A coordinator/facilitator of the Care Network will
be appointed. Anyone with a particular need will be able to contact that coordinator who will then pass on the
request to a person who has offered to provide for that need. Often that person will be known to the person making
their request by being in the same friendship group or MUC activity group. If you are able to offer any of your
skills please return the form below to your elder/carer, The Hub, Rex Anderson or Gwyn Roberts.

MUC CARE NETWORK (Previously known as MUC Resource Network)

The parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) tells the story of a Samaritan (a charitable or helpful
person) who assists a stranger in time of need.

The initial purpose of the MUC Care Network is to provide support for our friends who may have a short
or long term need. (This does not exclude providing support for any person experiencing troubling times).

To enable this assistance to be immediate and appropriate to the need we require an understanding of the
skills, abilities and interests of people.

This does not mean that you will be called upon to help all who are in trouble. The support will at all times
be relevant to the need and to the relationship you have with the recipient.

We would appreciate you listing the qualities you would offer at a time a friend of yours was in need of
       support.

Please select all the ways you would be able to assist:

           Provide transport Prepare a meal

Visit at home Visit at hospital

           Prayer Shopping

           Provide IT support Trade skills

We are called to walk in Jesus’ footsteps to contribute to the best possible
world and to do this we must live out our values – Christ centered; Risk-

English class enjoys a cooking lesson
‘Cooking’ was the topic on the last
English class of Term 2, and the students
learnt by getting into the action. Elaine
Dodds took the class through the steps
of making pikelets, with the teaching
of vocabulary used for ingredients,
cooking methods and kitchen utensils.
The students did a great job following
written instructions, and we had three
electric frypans on the go. Of course
all of the students and volunteer tutors
enjoyed eating the finished pikelets
along with various toppings, as a reward
for all of their hard work!
