Board of Commissioners PRESIDENT’S LETTER @NilesParkDist DEAR RESIDENTS, Dennis O’Donovan I think we can all agree that this pandemic owes us a few more months of PRESIDENT summer fun. But unfortunately that is not going to happen, and summer is dod@niles-parks.org winding down. I would like to thank all the employees for making the pool, camps, golf course, and parks, safe for all ages to have fun during this time. Fall is fast approaching and the staff is not stopping. The Park District has planned fall programs and events all listed in this guide. Dance, sports, preschool, join us at the Monster Bash, Harvest Hustle 5K, Trunk or Treat, and much more. DEAR RESIDENTS, Adult Golf Program 34 The Niles Park District is very excited to welcome Fall and having all capacity restrictions lifted Athletics 4-8 since the State reached phase 5 back in June. Our 18 parks and playgrounds on over 95 acres they are a great way to enjoy the fall colors. With tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, Basketball 5-6 and walking paths we have so much to offer to keep you active. Dance Program 24-25 Tom Elenz EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR There is still plenty of time to tune up your golf game at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course. Dodgeball, Volleyball & Youth Academy’s Athletics FALL 2021 SPONSORED BY: DODGEBALL VOLLEYBALL Winter Youth Senior Open Volleyball Dodgeball League Adults 50 & Older Come out and have some recreational fun. Join other friends and neighbors Boys & Girls Grade 3-8 in a game of volleyball. Individual fee is paid at the door (1/2 gym only). No Niles Park District is proud to present Boys & Girls Youth Dodgeball registration is needed. Just stop in! Leagues. Games are fun, safe, competitive, and exciting. Athletics Soccer Program Call us at 847.967.6633 | Check out our Niles Park District website at Niles-Parks.org Indoor Soccer Boys & Girls Grade Pre-K-8 Indoor Soccer is played at the LoVerde Sports and Recreation Center. Adult Co-Ed Soccer League Tiny Tots, Small Fry, and Big Shots will play on micro fields with either Adults 18 & Over 4v4 or 5v5 games. This form of soccer causes more touches of the ball This league will be a maximum of 7 teams with a minimum of 4 teams needed by the players (passes, dribbles, shots) and guarantees fun, skill to run the league. Play will consist of 8v8 games on a 66 x 32-yard field. Teams development, and a fundamental knowledge of the game. Don’t miss out on your chance to light up the ice in our show! Skaters participating in the Fall Sessions of Learn to Skate are eligible to participate. Whether you are a tot or advanced freestyle skater, we want you to be part of this Holiday Season Production! It’s as easy as1-2-3 and you will be ready for the spotlight. ONE! Skaters will need to be enrolled in the Fall Session of Learn to Skate Group Classes and enrolled in the show. Skaters must meet the prerequisite listed for each number for which they plan to enroll. TWO! Holiday Ice Show registration begins September 1 and runs through October 16. With your registration you will receive rehearsal time, professional choreography, and a costume for your group number. You may need to provide small costume accessories such as tights, gloves, boot covers, black pants, black shorts, turtleneck shirts, or nude leotards. THREE! Attend your scheduled group rehearsals and the dress rehearsal, and 2 show performances. Don’t miss out on your chance to shine in our Annual Spring Ice Show! Skaters participating in the Winter and Spring Sessions of Learn to Skate Classes are eligible to participate in group numbers. Whether you’re a Tot or an advanced freestyle skater, we want you to be a part of our Annual Spring Show. It’s as easy as 1-2-3 and you’ll be ready for the spotlight. * All skaters who were going to be Featured Performers in 2020 will not need to ONE! Students will need to be enrolled in the Winter & Spring audition. They will automatically be cast in a role in the show if they plan to participate. All the other requirements must be completed. Exception: Those skaters graduated in 2020 and sessions of Learn to Skate classes and enrolled in the show. 2021 may do a solo without doing other requirements. To be a featured performer in our TWO! Ice Show registration begins November 1, 2021 and runs Annual Spring Show, please see additional information regarding featured performer requirements. All potential featured performers must be registered in Learn to Skate classes through January 15, 2022. With your registration fee you will receive during the Fall session, Winter session & Spring session. These skaters must attend 70% of rehearsal time, professional choreography, and a costume. Hockey Fall Mini Session IceLand FALL 2021 HOCKEY FALL MINI SESSION (4 WEEKS) Resident Registration: August 1 | Open Registration: August 6 - 31 ($5 late fee after August 31) Rookie Rangers Power Rangers Pre-requisite: Complete Intro Class with approval of Niles Hockey Instructor or Pre-requisite: Successful attainment of skills that are taught in Rookie Rangers and possess basic skating skills and be able to glide. Players must be able to stand approval of hockey instructor or hockey director. Power Rangers is the next progression on the ice without assistance and be able to balance. Our most basic hockey after a successful evaluation from our Rookie Rangers class. This class continues to cover class. Designed for beginner skaters with an interest in playing hockey. Skills skating at an intermediate level, as well as offering instruction on other skills of the game, covered in this class involve all basic skating skills-push & glides, stops, turns, including puck handling, passing, and shooting. We strongly encourage players who have backwards skating, transitions and crossovers. Stick and pucks are used in class to joined a Rangers team to continue to work on their individual skill development by taking give each child a “taste” of playing hockey.
