Dear Mokena Community Park District Residents and Visitors:
Board of Commissioners
With fall winding down and winter looming, it’s time to think about President
staying active and involved. The Mokena Community Park District
2022 Winter/Spring brochure has several options for all ages. Allow Bob Lindbloom
the newly remodeled Oaks Recreation and Fitness Center to help Vice President

Commissioner
The Park District once again offers several new programs and
reinvented existing ones. These include Land of Make Believe and Jeff Apel
Somewhere Over the Rainbow for children, Music Start and Stage Commissioner
Stars for your future celebrities, First Aid for Kids, Adult Archery,
a women’s volleyball league and numerous new teen/tween Dan Gilbert
programming. Also, it isn’t too late to think of summer camp,
because the Park District now offers Before and After Camp. Plus,
Commissioner
camp will be offered all summer long. Special events include an Kathryn O’Connor
Indoor Flea Market on January 9, Winter Jump Fest on January 17,
Mother Son Bowling on February 12, the new Shamrock Search on Legal Counsel
March 12 and the Daddy Daughter Ball on May 7. Many of the
programs and special events have limited space, so please don’t

Park Board Meetings
If you didn’t get a chance to visit the new Whisper Creek Park, now
is your chance. Whisper Creek Park, located at Regan Road and Park District Board
Whisper Creek Way, boasts a state-of-the-art playground, outdoor Meetings are held on the

Join Ms. Jenny and see what all the commotion is about and have fun while learning a new dance style! From the
graceful movements of Ballet to the quick beat of Hip-Hop/Jazz to the synchronized sounds of taping toes we have
it all! While having a great time learning a new dance style, dancers will also learn how to count music and create
rhythm patterns of their own. White ballet shoes and black tap and jazz shoes should be worn for appropriate
classes. Spring session will be required to purchase costumes from their teacher. There is a different costume for
each class. Families will receive a limited number of tickets for the recital.
Pre-Ballet: This class will introduce the basic steps and positions in ballet while learning a fun song and dance
routine. Your child’s confidence and appreciation for the art form will grow as they master new skills and make new
friends.
Ballet: This class provides an excellent background for all types of dance. Coordination, strength and flexibility are
complimented with the grace and poise which ballet class offers.
Tapping Toes: Hear the synchronized sounds of taping toes while we shuffle off to Buffalo learning multiple tap
techniques. Classes will include basic principles of tap through music and movement exercises, with an emphasis on
rhythm and timing.
High Voltage Hip-Hop/Jazz: Learn the latest street-style moves just like your favorite pop stars. Dance to the beat
and get an excellent work-out while improving muscle strength and flexibility. Fun choreography will be inspired by
