Dear friends,
I am so pleased that every time there are more countries participating at the WIKF’s
European Championships. As you know WIKF members study the true essence of
Wado Ryu from the founder Ohtsuka Sensei. It’s my wish that in every championship
that you would demonstrate the real essence of Wado, technically and mentally.
Of course naturally in championships everybody wants to win, but especially in
WIKF championships is very important everyone to embody the essence of Wado.
Sumo wrestling is the national sport of Japan and sumo is not just a sport, it’s Budo.
So whatever the outcome, winners and losers always respect and bow to each other.
This is the soul of the Japanese Budo, which also applies in our Wado Ryu.
That’s why when you fight try to use all your power, but whether you win or loose
I hope you all behave like real martial artists.
After all, we are all a big family, helping each other to build up our WIKF.
I am counting on everyone of you to help build the future of our federation.

Dear WIKF Family,
Firstly I would like to congratulate, and secondly to thank the Italian WIKF for hosting
our fifteenth European Karate championships.
I know from past experiences what hard work hosting these championships involves.
I would also like to thank all the referees, timekeepers and scores Etc for their help
during this event.
I would like to wish all the participants every success in this event.
Please remember there can be only a few winners, but it is not always about winning,
It is the taking part with the true WIKF spirit.

Dear Friends WIKF
I would like, as new President 2010 WIKF, to warmly welcome all the participants in
the 15th European Championship WIKF of Jesolo-Venice.
My first thought goes to our school of Karate Wado, hoping that it can continue to be
successful all over the world thanks to the work of the founder and WIKF Director, the
grand Master Prof. Tatsuo Suzuki Sensei and his prestigious and excellent instructors
who contributed to the success of this project since the beginning.
Among them the new world Chief Instructor Master Jon Wicks 8th dan WIKF, to whom
we wish the best success.
I am grateful to the Organizing Committee, Presided over by Mr. Alessandro Sette,
who, with the cooperation of Mr. Davide Grandi, Mr. Fiorentino Bastianello and the
instructors master Sandro Angiolini and master Mirka Lory Barbaro, took care of the
organization of the 15th European Championship.
Mr Sette, with his collaborators, and with a great professional competence, has made
possible that this important event takes place in one of the most beautiful and famous
tourist resorts in Italy.
We are sure that our friends of the schools WIKF all over the world can understand
and appreciate this work, that required a great effort and sacrifice, taking part in this
European Championship.
We will have the opportunity to meet each other once again and share the strong
moral values of a real, great and very special family as WIKF is and as Director Prof.
Tatsuo Suzuki Sensei always reminds us.

A major attraction of Lido di Jesolo is its proximity to Venice which can be reached by
road or by waterbus across the lagoon from nearby Punta Sabbioni. The waterbus ar-
rives spectacularly at S. Marco Square, the heart of Venice.

Grand Canal to view the glorious palazzi - or just meander and discover the Venice of

Indoor Sports Hall
A spacious reception area, a large and well-stocked refreshment area, terrace bars,
cocktail bars, exhibition areas, collateral activities and events, parking areas and
loading-unloading bays.
The multi-purpose centre transforms into a real Sports Centre, with a spacious par-
terre equipped to host basketball, volley ball and five-a-side football matches and

The technical headquarter of the Event will be located in the Palazzo del Turismo

to 5 and one technique from number 6 to 10
-- After the second attack the defender must get off the knife and the change the attack: he
must also do two techniques: one technique from number 1 to 5 and one technique from
number 6 to 10
-- After the second attack of member two, member one must get off the knife ending so the
demonstration
-- There will be two teams: team AKA and team AO; team AKA starts

COMPETITIONS RULES & REGULATION
A In Individual Kumite, each country can enroll a total of 3 competitors per category/weight/height. This
tournament will be run according to the WKF rules of competition Kumite. This event is only open for
WIKF members:
a) The application of rules will be the responsibility of the referees with international qualifications of
the WKF or EKF;
b) The best Italians referees and judges with national qualifications will participate in Kumite;
c) Each country or delegation can enroll his own referees and judges, as long as they are properly
certified by their respective national federations or by EKF-WKF.
B In Team Kumite, each country can enroll a total of 3 teams per country in different categories. This
event is only open to WIKF members:
a) In the Cadet 12-13, Cadet 14-15 and Junior 16-17 categories the teams should be constituted by
3 main competitors + 2 alternate competitors. However, it’s possible to participate in the competi-
tion with only 2 main competitors;
b) In Senior categories (18-34) the team must be composed by 3 main competitors + 2 alternate
competitors.
C The competitors are only allowed to participate in their own age category.
D In Individual Kata, each country can enroll a total of 3 competitors per category. The official rules of
WIKF will be used with a numeric score card. This event is only open to WIKF members:
a) This event will be the responsibility of prof. Tatsuo Suzuki Sensei;
b) In the 1st round, the competitor must perform the obligatory kata defined in the list for the cat-
egory;
c) In the 2nd round the competitor must perform a kata of his choosing which must be different
from the kata performed in the 1st round. In the Cadet category (up to 9 years), Cadet (10-11 years)
and Cadet (12-13 years), in the 2nd round it is obligatory to choose only Pinan Katas. Only in cat-
egory Cadet (14-15 years) the competitors can choose, in the 2nd round, a Kata of his choice, Pinan
Katas or superior Katas. All other categories (Junior, Senior and Veteran), in 2nd round the competi-
tor can perform a kata of his choice but compulsory superior Katas;
d) If there is a 3rd round, the Cadet competitors can repeat the kata performed in the 1st or 2nd
round, or perform a new kata. Junior, Senior and Veteran competitors, in case there is a 3rd round,
must perform a different (new) kata from the one performed in the 1st and 2nd round;
e) In case of a tie, in any category, the kata to break the tie must be different than the kata per-
formed in the previous round, except in Cadet (up to 9 years), Cadet (10-11 years), Cadet (12-13)
and Cadet (14-15) categories, where one of the previous Kata can be repeated.
In Tanto-Dori competition, each country can enrol a total of 3 teams per country. Again this event is
E only open for WIKF members, according to the following, approved by prof. Tatsuo Suzuki Sensei:
a) This is only for Seniors and Veterans (starting at 18 years of age);
b) The team is composed of two members either male or female;
c) The first member of the team must perform two attack techniques: one from number 1 to 5 and

performance;
f) There will be two teams: team AKA and team AO. Team AKA starts;
g) The flag system will be used.
F Each coach must be properly registered with WIKF and follow these procedures:
a) It is only allowed for 1 coach to be next to the tatami by category, fully dressed with sports gar-
ment of its country;
b) Each coach must wear, at all times, the official identification accreditation, in order to remain
next to the box of action;
c) Only 5 coaches per country are allowed in Kumite and Kata;
d) Only 2 coaches per country or delegation are allowed in the general coach reunion.
G All the competitors are obliged to present, during the delegation registration, the identity card and the

H All the competitors of individual Kumite are obliged to present themselves to the weight and height
control in the category that they are registered in. The control of weight and height will be very strict.
I No change of category due to exceeding or being below the athlete’s weight and/or any difference in
height (in the Cadet 10-11 year old and Cadet 14-15 year old category) will be allowed during the con-
trol period.
J Changing from one weight or height category to another is only possible, (at no charge) when a prop-
erly justified report is prepared by the head representative of the country or delegation and handed to
the organization committee, before the 30th of august 2010.
K The organising committee of the event has the responsibility of solving any problems that may occur
during the event in consultation with prof. Tatsuo Suzuki Sensei.
L Each Country can bring not more than 2 groups (for ex. Italy 1 / Italy 2).

PROTECTIONS
The obligatory protection for each event will be as defined in the official competition rules
of WKF (Article 2 point 8). Gloves, leg and foot protection must be of red or blue colour.
Mouth guards, chest guards must be used by female contestants and groin guards for
male contestants. Anyone not complying with these regulations may be expelled.
NOTES:
(A) Face or chest protection must be used from category 12-13 year old up to 14-15
year old
(B) No change of grades or categories after 1st of September 2010 will be allowed
