Our Year in Photos
DECEMBER 2020
Art for Refuge 2020
The air was almost electric at our biennial Art for
Refuge Auction on Friday the 13th of November
2020. Hosted by the stunning Te Henui Chapel,
there were 43 incredible works from Taranaki
artists available for purchase; the talent in our
region is truly something inspirational. In a first
for us, we had bidders attend and participate
via a zoom room which certainly added to the
excitement and entertainment. We wish to
sincerely thank our Artists whose work will allow
us to continue to offer services that support local
women, children and men.
Our deep gratitude also to venue owners,
Richard and Casey Martin; the amazing team
of hosts, Kris Rasmussen, Sam Bennett, Evan
Davies and all our TWR staff and volunteers
who helped pull together an enjoyable evening
for all. Thanks also to major sponsors Design
Garage and those who contributed to the
events success including Ivy Lane Florist,
Theory Food, BBG, La Nuova, Liquorland, MAD
Media, Spill Control NZ Ltd., NP Event Venues
and Volunteering New Plymouth. Our sincere
thanks also to Mark Lahood Films and Tammie
Pittwood Photography for creating timeless
content of some of our artists, your contribution
was enormous.
Finally, thank you to all who participated in
person, via zoom, phone or silent bids. We hope
you all enjoyed yourselves and we will see you
again in 2 years!
We wish you all a wonderful safe summer
and a happy 2021Community Catch Ups Being invited to speak to groups is an excellent opportunity to connect with our community, raise awareness of our work and learn from each other. We have recently enjoyed spending time with organisations such as Worley, Women In Business Hawera, Annie Brydon Rest Home, Alzheimers Taranaki and Sacred Heart Girls College. If you are interested in having us come to speak to your group and learning more about the services Taranaki Women’s Refuge provides, please feel free to contact us at relationships@ taranakiwomensrefuge.co.nz.
Pop Up Shop This year’s Pop-Up Shop was an outstanding success and we are thrilled that it will be back again in 2021. A huge thank you must go to Jess, Michell, all of the fabulous volunteers, businesses and shoppers who all contributed to such a positive result. The funds raised from this event will help local women, children and men. Keep an eye on our social media for collection and event details for 2021.

we will do our best to keep you informed of
our procedures and plans as they unfold. Our

to support their safety no matter the situation.
Festive 2020
Thank you to those individuals, families and
groups who have already brought in gifts of
food, vouchers and presents this year. We are
delighted to also be working with Bayleys Real
Estate Taranaki, Kiwi Christmas books and The
Warehouse who are running donation drives on
our behalf. It is wonderful to live in a community
where supporting each other is a priority.Comment from our Our Sponsors
Manager
It’s been a funny ole year! Disruptive, but not all
of the lockdown experience was negative. We
were overwhelmed by the level of community
support, learned a lot about being responsive
to immediate need and found a whole new
appreciation for connection. I want to thank all
our friends and supporters. And give a special
thanks to the Refuge staff for their support over
the challenging year.
