Note to the industry-
Pocatello Downs is planning to open for training March 1st – September 30th 2021.
Stall Rent is $65 per stall, per month. A user fee for those not wishing to rent stalls
but still full have full usage of track & starting gates for timed workouts is $20 per
day, $200 per month or $350 for the full season. While the world is still battling the
Covid-19 Pandemic we are planning to put forth a live racing schedule, stakes book
& condition book. The specific dates and added monies may change due to obstacles
that are outside of our control. We rely heavily on live crowds and public
attendance for financial stability. Our priorities are, as they always have been, with
the safety of the equine athletes, jockeys & those who work with them. Without the
support of them we wouldn’t be successful. We look forward to working with our
local Southeastern Idaho Public Health Department (SIPH), Idaho State Racing
Commission (ISRC) and Bannock County Commissioners, in order to follow state
and local guidelines for a safe opening of the 2021 season.2021-Bitterroot Stakes!

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. This Futurity is open to Quarter Horses registered with the AQHA and sired by stallions listed on back or any
horses that have made the $2050 supplement payment as listed on the front of the form. ALL OWNERS MUST BE
CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE IQHA RACING DIVISION.
2. All races will be conducted under the rules of the Idaho State Racing Commission and the AQHA.
3. Trials will be run over one (1) day taking the ten (10) fastest qualifiers from each day for the finals.
4. Each trial shall consist of not more than ten (10) horses. The trials shall be raced under the same conditions as
the finals. No more than then (10) horses shall be selected from the trials to participate in the finals. 5% of the
Bitterroot Futurity Purse will be deducted for the Bitterroot Juvenile Stakes. See attached
5. The decision of the Stewards and or the Idaho State Racing Commission shall be final in all matters. All fees and
payments are accepted only on the condition that all persons nominating or starting a horse in this event agree to
abide by the decision of the Stewards and/or the Idaho State Racing Commission.
6. Entries in the trials owned by the same owner or trained by the same trainer will be split if possible.
7. Should a horse be disqualified in the trials, he shall be given the time of the horse he is placed behind plus .001
seconds.
8. In the event of a timer malfunction, the stewards will revert to hand times in that trial only to determine
qualifiers.
9. Should the front gates fail to open in front of a horse during the running of the trials or stakes, the horse shall be
declared a nonstarter and no liability will be incurred beyond the return of all payments that have been paid in on
such horse.
10. Purse distribution for the Futurity shall pay (10) monies as follows: 40%, 20%, 10%, 8%, 6%, 5%, 4%, 3%, 2%,
2%.
11. IQHA and/or Sponsoring track reserve the right to cancel or postpone these Stakes races for any reason it
deems good and sufficient. IQHA agrees to return, to the horsemen, all nominating and/or sustaining fees that
have been paid in, less 10% for administrative expense.
12. Nominator of the winner to receive $500.00. The breeder is the owner or lessee of the mare at the time of
service. Breeder of winner to receive $500.00. The owner of the sire of the winner to receive $1500.00.
13. The signature represents that he/or she is familiar with the rules and regulations governing Quarter Horse
Racing by the Idaho State Racing Commission, IQHA and the sponsoring track and such persons agree to comply
with the decision of the Board of Stewards and/or the Idaho State Racing Commission.
14. 10% will be deducted to defray expenses out of nominating and sustaining fees.
15. Nominating and sustaining payments are to be made through the U.S. Mail or by credit card and must be post
marked on or before the payment deadline.
16. 10% will be deducted for the (2022) Bitterroot Derby.
17. Horses which meet either of the following criteria are eligible for the (2022) Bitterroot Derby:
A) Horses that were eligible to start or started in the (2021) Bitterroot Futurity trials.
B) Horses which were paid in full through the January payment of the (2021) Bitterroot Futurity may become
eligible by payment of Bitterroot Derby nomination fee plus a supplemental fee of $500.00 at time of nomination.
18. Any breeding that was purchased at the Bitterroot Stallion Service Auction that does not result in a live foal
and mare is returned for a re-breed to the same stallion. That resulting offspring will be eligible for the following
year’s Bitterroot Futurity regardless of whether the stallion is eligible or not, but they will lose their “Free Berth”
and subject “Free Berth” cannot be sold or transferred.
19. All “Free Berths” must be named by January 1st of their yearling year to be eligible to run. If colt is not
named by January 1st of his yearling year, you forfeit your “Free Berth.” NO EXCEPTIONS!

sion.
2. All races will be conducted under the rules of the Idaho State Horse Racing Commission
and the American Quarter Horse Association.
3. Each trial shall consist of not more than ten (10) horses. The trials shall be raced under the
same conditions as the finals. Only the ten fastest times will be selected from the trials to
participate in the finals. There will be no also eligibles.
4. The decision of the Stewards shall be final in all matters. All fees and payments are ac-
cepted only on the condition that all persons nominating or starting a horse in this event
agree to abide by the decision of the stewards and/or the Idaho State Racing Commission.
5. Entries in the trials owned by the same owner or trained by the same trainer will be split if
possible.
6. Purse distribution for the Derby shall pay ten (10) monies as follows: 40-20-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-
2 percent.
7. Should a horse be disqualified in the trials, he shall be given the time of the horse he is
placed behind plus .001 second.
8. In the event of a timer malfunction, the stewards will revert to hand times to determine
qualifiers.
9. Should the front gates fail to open in front of a horse during the running of the trials or
stakes, the horse shall be declared a non-starter and no liability will be incurred beyond the
return of all payments that have been paid on such horse.
10. IQHA reserves the right to cancel or postpone these Stakes races for any reason it deems
good and sufficient; and IQHA agrees to return to the horsemen all nomination and/or sus-
taining fees that have been paid, less 10% for administrative expense.
11. The undersigned represents that he is familiar with the rules and regulations governing
Quarter Horse Racing by the Idaho State Racing Commission and IQHA; and such persons
agree to comply with the decisions of the Boards of Stewards and/or the Idaho State Racing
Commission.
12. Of the gross purse, 10% will be deducted to defray expenses.
13. Nominating and sustaining payments must be made through the United States mail or direct
payment before payment deadline.
14. Horses which meet either of the following criteria are eligible for the 2021 Bitterroot
Derby:(a) Horses that were eligible to start or started in the 2020 Bitterroot Futurity
trials. (b) Horses which were paid in full through the January payment of the 2020
Bitterroot Futurity may become eligible by payment of the Bitterroot Derby nomina-
tion fee plus a supplemental fee of $500 at time of nomination.
