                                              V ENUE D ETAILS
 The Rural City of Benalla is located in northern Victoria just one hour’s drive south of the NSW border.

 The beautiful tree lined Benalla Equestrian Reserve and Racecourse are located within the same precinct only a five-
 minute drive from the City Centre. The picturesque Oxley Reserve about half an hour’s drive back up the Hume
 Highway will be the venue for the Cross Country and will provide an exciting and challenging track for riders.

 The City Centre and surrounding area offers a variety of accommodation, restaurants, tourist and cultural attractions.

                                        GENERAL R EGULATIONS
All Competitions
      • Riders Age as of 1st January 2021
      • All riders to be a financial member of a Pony Club affiliated with Pony Club Australia
      • A minimum of two states will be needed to constitute a National Team Championship event
         otherwise the event will become a competition for individuals only

  Dressage
     • Sub-juniors: 10 years and under 13 years
     • Combined (Jnr/Snr) 13yrs and under 26yrs
     • Entries from each State/Territory
            o Sub-junior Team to be a max of 6 riders with the top 3 scores to count. All riders are
                considered to be the team
            o Open Team to be a max of 12 riders with the top 6 scores to count. All riders are
                considered to be the team
     • Points are accumulated from each event
     • All competitors will be scored for individual championships

  Showjumping & Eventing
     • Sub-juniors: 10 years and under 13 years
     • Juniors: 13 years and under 17 years
     • Seniors: 17 years and under 26 years
     • Each State/Territory are permitted to enter six riders in each age group in each discipline
     • Teams to be a minimum of three riders and a maximum of six riders
     • Teams – top three scores to count – all riders are considered to be the team
     • Points are accumulated from each event
     • All competitors will be scored for individual championships

Tetrathlon
      • Sub-juniors: 10 years and under 13 years
      • Juniors: 13 years and under 17 years
      • Seniors: 17 years and under 26 years
      • Each State/Territory are permitted to enter four riders in each age group (Female & Male)
      • Both Female and Male Teams to be a minimum of three riders and a maximum of four riders
      • Teams – top three scores to count – all riders are considered to be the team
      • Points are accumulated from each event
      • All competitors will be scored for individual championships

  Prince Philip Mounted Games
      • Juniors – under 16 years
      • Seniors – 16 years and under 26 years
      • Each State/Territory permitted one team of five athletes in each age group for Prince Philip Mounted
          Games
      • A mounted presentation will be held – with the exception of rugs presented by sponsors to the winners,
          rugs may not be worn at this presentation.

  PCA Quiz
     • Each State/Territory is permitted to enter three teams – Sub-juniors, Junior and Senior
     • Sub-juniors: 10 years and under 13 years
     • Juniors – 13 years and under 17 years
     • Seniors – 17 years and under 26 years
     • Each State/Territory is permitted to enter four members in each age group
     • Teams – top three scores from each phase to count – all riders are considered to be the team
     • Points are accumulated from each event
     • All competitors will be scored for individual championships

                 For all disciplines: One horse one rider; one rider one horse.
  Special exemption to the one horse one rider rule may be given on exceptional circumstances and is
  subject to approval by PCA.

  Horses may participate in a maximum of two disciplines. A horse may compete in any two jumping disciplines
  but NOT ON THE SAME DAY. Jumping Events include Showjumping, Eventing and Tetrathlon.

  Two horse rule – 2021 exception - If a discipline team of three cannot be made from State nominations, then
  a second competition horse is allowed from an already competing rider, where the second mount is also
  qualified to compete. That is, a State has only two nominated horses and this enables the State to field a
  team.

  Substitutes due to injury or illness will be at the discretion of each State/Territory up until the
  commencement of competition of the discipline entered and horse must have passed the veterinary check
  (Trot Up).

  PCA National Gear Rules.

            o Ribbons       1st to 6th place in each Championship Event. Quiz written phase only.
            o Sashes        1st to 3rd place for Individual Championship

            o Rug            Champion Team

                            GUIDELINES FOR EACH D ISCIPLINE

Sub-junior and a Combined Junior/Senior competitions will be held for the following disciplines:
    •   Dressage

Sub-junior, Junior and Senior competitions will be held for the following disciplines:
   • Showjumping
   • Eventing
   • Tetrathlon
   • PCA Quiz

Junior and Senior competitions will be held for the:
    •   Prince Phillip Mounted Games

Special Events:

    •   Ride to Time (Junior and Senior) – this does not count for the Roger Braham Shield

The Roger Braham OAM Perpetual Shield will be awarded to the Champion State, awarded over all
Championship disciplines competing at the event.

    •   Dressage
    •   Showjumping
    •   Eventing
    •   Tetrathlon
    •   Mounted Games
    •   PCA Quiz

Championship points will be allocated with the winning team for each discipline receiving the same
number of points as there are competitive teams, with the Team who scores last position receiving 1
Championship point, ie, if there are 7 teams, then:

         1st place = 7 points
         2nd place = 6 points
         3rd place = 5 points
         7th place = 1 point

PRINCE PHILIP MOUNTED GAMES

  Junior & Senior competitions
      Scoring and games as per current International Prince Philip Mounted Games rules -
      Championship Games – to be run over one day (games TBA)
  There will be a separate Games Pairs Demonstration Competition. This does not count for the Roger Braham
  Shield

 TETRATHLON CHAMPIONSHIP

  Sub-junior; Junior & Senior Championship events run over four phases – riding (showjumping), shooting,
  swimming, running
  Riding Phase – a combination of derby and show jump style fences

     Scoring: 1400 points if 0 jumping penalties and 0 time penalties. Elimination in the Riding Phase is not
                                     elimination for the entire competition.
  Shooting Phase
  Equipment: Laser pistols to be used
  Distance from target: Juniors & Senior – 10m
                        Sub-juniors – 7m (pistol may be held with both hands)
   Scoring:   Each competitor will shoot 2 series each with 5 shots fired consecutively and with a time limit
              of 2 minutes per series of 5 shots. All 10 shots, 5 from each series will count towards the score
              of the competitor. A maximum of 1090 points can be achieved.
              Prior to the competition each competitor will have 5 minutes Preparation Time including
              unlimited practice sighting shots. Coaching is allowed during the firing of practice sighting
              shots.

Swimming Phase – time over a set distance
Completing the swim in the optimum time scores 1100 points. For each second above or below the optimum time,
penalty points are added or removed from 1100 points.

Running Phase – time over a set distance
1100 points are earned when the runner reaches their specified distance on or under the specified
Completing the run course in the optimum time scores 1100 points. For each second above or below the
optimum time, penalty points are added or removed from 1100 points. A minimum score of 20 points is
achieved by any runner correctly negotiating the course.

  Quiz competitors may or may not be competitive riders in other disciplines at the National
  Championships.
Each team will appoint a captain and scores will be taken from team participants across the three of phases.

 RIDE TO TIME

This is a new discipline being offered at the 2021 Championships. It aims to improve the skills of cross country
riding and act as an introduction to the riding opportunities available within the Racing Industry. Further specific
details of the event will be forwarded to States shortly. In the meantime, details of programs already developed
can be found on the PCA website.
Ride To Time Teams will consist of:
    1.   Senior (17-25yrs) – Open (1000m per 109 seconds) – 2 riders
    2.   Senior (17-25yrs) – Maiden (1000m per 120 seconds) – 2 riders
    3.   Junior (16 yrs and under) – Open (1000m per 109 seconds) – 2 riders
    4.   Junior (16 yrs and under) – Maiden (1000m per 120 seconds) – 2 riders
All riders will have the opportunity to participate in a practice/track familiarisation session before competing in the
final competition.

Please note that unfortunately due to scheduling clashes, this competition will not be available to riders
participating in the Showjumping and Tetrathlon competitions. Anyone participating in the Teams Musical Ride will
also be excluded.
