In your mercy accept our prayers for our parish this year, for the Council and Churchwardens who
have resumed another year in office without Vestry, and for Rector The Ven. Rus Blassoples who
will guide the lay leadership through what has already been an uncertain and difficult time. We
pray for blessings upon all those who are still recovering from COVID-19 or illnesses associated
with the virus, we give thanks for those who have recovered and comfort to the families who have
lost their loved ones during this past year.
As we continue our liturgical year after the Season of Lent, and Holy Week, we give grateful thanks
that there are many Easter moments in our personal lives, and in the life of our Parish. During the
period of Lent, we experienced teaching On Prayer and Learning to Pray – for this we thank You
that you are always there, that prayer comes in many forms, not just words – but silence, pictures,
listening and supplication.‘If the only prayer you ever say is Thank You, that will be enough.
(Meister Eckhart).’
Taking 2021 in our stride, we surround this parish of St Stephen’s with love and grace, continuing
with the support of online and in-person worship. And for this, for Rus – we raise up holy hands in
grateful thanks. Amen.
