not interrupted by artificial lights. This makes
the southern hemisphere at night, one of the
most outstanding scenes you will come across.
Sitting around the campfire, gazing up at the
Milky Way and the sky is an unforgettable

‘The business end of the trip’

Wilderness Island is an isolated Island located
within the huge mangrove system on the east
side of Exmouth Gulf in North-Western
Australia. With fantastic fishing beginning right
at the water’s edge, Wilderness Island offers
some of the most amazing fishing anywhere in
Australia. Giant Trevally, Giant Herring, Snapper,
Mangrove Jack, Barramundi, Spanish Mackerel,
1m+ Queenfish, Long-tail Tuna, Cod, Bluebone,
Coral Trout and Golden Trevally are some of
over 52 species of fish you will encounter. As the
seasons move through the year so too do the fish
species, each as exciting as the last. Wilderness
Island offers a multitude of fishing experiences
from beginner to fly fishermen and everyone in
between. You can even bring your own boat if you
want to do your own thing. Our philosophy on
Wilderness Island is to keep the Exmouth Gulf a
healthy and well-managed environment, therefore
our policy is catch and release. No fish are taken
away from the island although we do
keep some for the table. out
