 Professor Jones submitted electronically a paper entitled "Opening China’s ‘Belt and
Road Initiative’ to Competition with International 48-61 Investment: Expanding Freight
Cargo Delivery with Manufacturing Between Asia and Europe to Accelerate Free Trade
and National Security in the Aftermath of the COVID-19 Pandemic" at the ARDA
International Conference on Business Management and Social Innovation (ICBMSI-20)
on 09 April 2020 at Seoul, Republic of Korea. http://www.asc.uw.edu.pl/wp-

 By invitation of Governor dr György Matolcs, the
Governor of the Magyar National Bank, the Central Bank
of the Republic of Hungary, Professor Jones delivered the
Keynote speech at the Multilateral Cooperation Panel
moderated by dr Dániel Palotai, executive director and
chief economist of Magyar National Bank, at the Pre-
Forum Session of the Budapest Eurasia Forum on 29-31
October 2019 in Budapest, Hungary. Professor Jones
argued that China's "Belt and Road Initiative" (BRI) is a
maritime success, an overland failure, because of chaotic
political and topographical features of South Asia, Eurasia.
Instead, Professor Jones argued that the current BRI should be limited to local traffic,
meaning cargoes to and from Eurasian states, with an "express railway and highway"
from East Asia to be implemented across the Russian Federation with its flat terrain and
political stability, ending up at the same location in Central Europe: Łódź, Poland. This is
a form of what Professor Jones calls "international separation of powers", meaning it
should balance Chinese hegemony in the region, as well as being a faster way to ship
goods from Japan and South Korea to Europe, especially if "choke points" emerge along
the Yellow, East China, and South China Seas.

from Chicago to New York then on to New England by car, during which he studied
changes in America over the past two decades. He focused also on the Native American
tribal populations over the past 400 years, comparing the Navaho in Arizona and Utah
with the Wampanoag of Massachusetts led by Massasoit in 1620, and their respective
outcomes: Navaho have become impoverished by relegation to “reservations” several of
