Cool Change Contemporary is an Artist-Run Initiative (ARI) which hosts a monthly
program of exhibitions, supported by regular events, performances, workshops, and
screenings from our venue on the first floor of the Bon Marche Arcade in Perth’s CBD.
Cool Change has an ongoing EOI process for artists, curators, producers and collectives
across art forms to facilitate public programs. We welcome proposals encompassing
critically engaged, experimental and resolved projects, from practitioners at all stages
of practice.
EOIs will receive a response from Cool Change team members within two weeks of
submission.
As part of the culturally-rich Western Australian community we recognise that Cool
Change has been established on the unceded lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
We also relish our position on the edge of the Indian Ocean, and within the Asia-Pacific
region. As such, we encourage proposals from practitioners of culturally diverse
backgrounds, and those working regionally, interstate or internationally. If you
experience barriers to meeting the requirements of our proposal or program structure,
please contact us to discuss this further.

Terms
● Hourly, day and extended rates are negotiated on case-by-case basis. Please
contact us to discuss your plans prior to your application for advice.
● If fee exceeds $100, a 30% non-refundable deposit is to be paid within a fortnight
of agreement on the public program, balance to be paid one week prior to the
public program.
● $50 supervision fee may be incurred if program requires Cool Change staff to
supervise venue late into the evening to cover safe transport home for these
team members.
● Venue orientation with Cool Change team member is required prior to public
program if using venue unsupervised, otherwise this will take place on day of
program.
● If taking possession of keys to Cool Change, a $100 refundable key bond is
required (per set).
● Promotion of public program will take place via our website, mailing list and
social media.
● Bar service can be provided by the Cool Change team, by agreement.

* Cool Change Contemporary will be closed to the public between 19 - 25 April for
Easter/ANZAC Day Public Holidays. The April exhibition period has been extended 1
week to accommodate this closure.
Cool Change is open Wednesday - Sunday during stated exhibition periods. Public
Program activity is welcome to take place any day of the week excluding installation
and make-good periods.
During exhibition free weeks larger-scale or longer term public programs making full
use of our gallery spaces may be possible.

Cool Change has the following AV equipment available to use. While we will do our
best to accommodate requests for equipment, availability will depend on the needs of
all exhibitions and public programs during for each period. Please include any requests
for equipment in your proposal so it may be taken into consideration when scheduling.
● 1 x 40 inch LED TV (capable of USB playback) with wall mounts
● 7 x 24 inch LED TVs (capable of USB playback) with wall mounts
● 1 x DVD player
● 1 x Blu-Ray player
● 5 x headphones
● 1 x 1080p 5000 lumen projector
Cool Change has a selection of plinths and exhibition furniture which can be made
available on request. Specific equipment, technical or set-up requirements will need to
be furnished at the cost of the artist.
If you require equipment not listed, Cool Change may be able to assist in arranging the
loan or hire of equipment from other organisations. Include these details in your
project description.
Please contact us if you require more specific details regarding available equipment
and loans.
Applicant responsibilities
● If fee exceeds $100, a 30% non-refundable deposit is to be paid within a fortnight

● Provision of at least one print-quality image relating to project with
accompanying captions, 150-200 word project description and 100-150 word
artist biography (as relevant) four weeks prior to the public program, to be used
for promotional purposes.
● Clear communication with Cool Change regarding set-up, public program
schedule, bump-in and make-good of space as appropriate to project.
Proposal Requirements
Submit the following via Google Form:
● Complete applicant contact details
● Nomination of preferred date(s) and space(s).
● Description of proposed activity
● Optional support material - creative CVs of contributors, maximum 10 JPEG
images (2MB each) and links to up to 5 minutes of video.
