academy coaches, alongside former Tigers
players.
How are players coached?
With the wealth of experience that Leicester Tigers
have in running rugby camps, parents can be assured
that players are in capable hands. All Tigers coaches are
trained to a minimum of RFU Level 2, fully DBS checked
and first aid trained. CMT’s English and pastoral staff,
which includes a full-time physiotherapist, will be looking
after players at all other times.
Leicester Tigers have been successfully and safely
delivering rugby camps for over 10 years. They conform
to both England’s Rugby Football Union and the
International Rugby Board’s guidance in teaching rugby.
The camps are designed to develop players, based on the
core four skills, as filtered down from the Tigers Academy;
Catch and Pass, The Tackle, Support and Evasion and The
Breakdown. All sessions will have one of these four core
skills as its main focus, with the camp culminating in age
group games.ACCELERATE YOUR ENGLISH LEARNING!
CMT’s accelerated English teaching model
centres around the benefits of teaching
English in an inspiring sports environment.
English will be spoken both in the
classroom and on the playing field.
How are students taught?
A total of 25 hours will be spent in the classroom, with
students benefitting from modern teaching aids and a
stimulating, sports-relevant curriculum. The teachers will
explain many of the technical terms of rugby… in English!
At the start of each camp, students will take a short
language test which is used to place them in an
appropriate class. At the end of the camp, students can
take their workbooks home to show parents and friends
what they have learnt. Students will also receive an
individual assessment from their tutor, with advice on how
to further develop their language skills. All of our students
see a clear improvement by the end of the camp.
