Page 7CLUB COMPETITION FORMAT
As at 8th June the likely team grades are:
COMPETITION GRADES
• Senior Premier 1 - 3; Snr A, Snr A Res and Snr B
• Collegiate Premier; A; B; C; D (D grade is U15b grade)
• Intermediate A—E
• futureFERNS Non Competition
GRADING:
Grading will be done during Presidents Round this season. Teams have been placed into sections based on
the grade that was requested in the first instance. However, due to 22 teams withdrawing some grades
have been modified or may require further information in the draw preparation phase.
• Intermediate grades available this season are INT A to INT E = 5 sections
• Collegiate and U15 Grades: Coll Prem to Coll D = 5 sections
• Due to the number of withdrawn U15 teams we were left with insufficient teams to make a meaningful
competition. College D is now made up of those teams that requested U15B in their registration.
DRAW FORMAT:
• Our Draw Steward is working towards being able to provide a draw format on Wednesday 10th June
• Due to the number of teams and grades there are some changes to playing times from previous season.
This also reflects changes in the number of teams using the Indoor Arena.
• Considerations have been made for player coaches, player umpires and Collegiate players who play in
Auckland
• We are taking the opportunity to trial adding an additional 5 minutes between each round to assist with
umpire transition and player congestion at court areas. Games will be played "on the hour". This will
should allow spectators to move away from the court immediately the game is finished before the next
team of spectators arrive.
• An opportunity for clubs to make any further comments on the draw format will be offered when its
published
FORMAT:
• Senior Premier Grade:
Grade consists of 3 x sections
Prem 1&2 will play on Friday evenings for Presidents, Prem 3 will play Saturdays
6 x teams per section (at discretion of PNC)
Round Robin Grading x 5 weeks (Presidents Round)
Promotion/Relegation from bottom of grade above and top of grade below— Monday 27th July
Round Robin x 10 weeks (Championship Rounds)
Please Note: The format for Championship round may change as decisions about the RPL competition have
not yet been made and this may impact the format for Championship round.
• All other Grades (excluding Y1 - Y4 futureFERNS):
Grades consist of maximum 6 x teams and minimum of 5 x teams per section
Round Robin Grading x 5 weeks (Presidents Round)
Promotion/Relegation from bottom of grade above and top of grade below (if results are close we
may consider playing top 2 bottom 2) — Monday 27th July
Round Robin x 9 weeks (10 Championship Rounds)

Page 8GAME DURATION:
• Senior Premier games will be of 1 hour duration
4 x 15 minute quarters
Courts: Pulman Indoor Arena
Injury time as per international rules
Own Timing
• All other Grades games will be of 40 minute duration
4 x 10 minute quarters
8.00am, 9.00am, 10.00am, 11.00am, 12.00pm, 1.00pm, 2.00pm
Courts: All courts including some grades playing Indoors
Centrally timed
Rounds have been extended by 11mins to allow additional time for umpires to get to their next
games, and to move rounds on the hour.
COMPETITION DAYS:
PERMIER 1 & 2 GRADES: Will be played on Friday nights. By separating the Premier Grades to Friday
nights we are able to reduce the gatherings numbers on Saturdays.
PREMIER 3 GRADE TO futureFERNS: Saturday’s in a series of 3 rounds. futureFERNS Y1 - Y4 is a 10
week programme and is perfect for newcomers to netball, is non-competition and played indoors.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS
The Netball NZ U18 Champs and the Netball NZ Open Champs, presented by NZ Police, were due to de-
but during the 2020 domestic calendar but will now not take place until 2021.
