                              Dear friends and colleagues,

                                           Patmos – Thorbecke – Grünewald – Eschbach – Schwaben

Our list offers a wide range of titles, covering psychology, self-help, memoirs, parenting, spiri-
tuality, religion and theology, as well as gift books and children’s books. While we have had a

eral children’s books, including fiction, encouraging children to become more aware of values
and what really matters in life.

Our imprint Thorbecke specializes in books on cookery, lifestyle and gardening, on the one
hand, as well as books on history and cultural history, on the other hand.

The healing power of reading for depression
Depression is a frequently recurring topic in literature. Un-
like many scientists and medical practitioners, poets and
writers have direct and holistic access to the shadow as-
pects of human experiences. Many works of world litera-
ture have a therapeutic effect on readers with depressive
moods. When reading, the thoughts that were previously
running in circles calm down, become organized and clear.
Positive feelings arise and we see the reality with different
eyes, increasingly finding the way back to ourselves. With
his selected texts and book tips, bibliotherapist Martin
Duda offers support for self-help. He shows how reading
can contribute to escaping the hopelessness of depression.

           Spirituality for men
It is a challenge to rediscover nature as a spiritual guide.de.
Nature is the first Bible. People have always gone into na-
ture to read this book and get to the bottom of everything. ng.
This current book also leads to many exercises in nature. re.
However, it is not about wilderness or survival training. ng.
The willingness to accept an inner path is decisive. On thishis
path, the living tradition knows other signposts: The Holy oly
Scripture, the Franciscan way of life, mysticism, a life in the
balance of contemplation and action, of dedication to God od
and the resulting dedication to life. Jan Frerichs invites his
readers on an exciting path to a spirituality of their own wn

           Walking as a Spiritual Experience
Walking is vital, not only in regard to physical health. Most
psychological problems also arise or persist due to the lack
of walking on a regular basis! Is it possible that many prob-
lems of the modern lifestyle are related to the fact that peo-
ple no longer go places by foot? Gisbert Greshake, theolo-
gian and passionate hiker, explores the phenomenon of
walking with a holistic perspective: from the question of
what happens to the body and soul when walking to the
path as the biblical archetypical image of spirituality. This
is a spiritual invitation to walking, it encourages readers to
take the first step, with which every path begins.
