Salty Sea Dog Triathlon Series 2015 - COMPETITOR INFORMATION
Registration:
All you need to do is find your name and race number on the notice board then report your
race number to the registration staff.

They will issue you with:
•Race number
•Timing Chip. To be worn on your wrist
•Swim hat. To be worn on you head!

Entries on the day:
Entries will be taken on the day. Entry forms will be available in registration. Price is normal fee
plus £2. Cash or card accepted.

Race timing:
Votwo is using the Sport Ident timing system for this event. Competitors will wear a timing chip on
their wrist which they have to physically ‘dib’ into the electronic receiver on the entrance / exit to
transition. This is different to the passive type of timing chip that is worn on the ankle and picked
up automatically as the competitor travels over a timing mat. Staff will be on hand to assist at the
timing points and will probably hold the receiver in their hand and grab your finger and guide it in
for you.

Transition:
Run out, run in, bike out and bike in points will all be clearly signed. Please orientate yourself with
the layout of transition before the race starts. Timing points will be clearly marked at exits /
entrances to transition. You must ‘dib’ your timing chip in at these points.

Transition rules:
• To gain entry / exit to transition you will need to show your race number You will not be allowed
to retrieve / deposit your bike if you do not show your race number
•Do not ride your bike in transition
•When racing your helmet must be securely affixed to your head before you touch your bike.
You must not remove your helmet until your bike is securely racked
•Dismount before the dismount line
•Mount after the mount line
•Your transition space is to be kept tidy at all times
•No nudity in transition

Gatorade are kindly sponsoring the Salty Sea Dog Triathlons. Gatorade Perform and water
will be available in transition and on the run course.

Race Briefing:
This will be held in the transition area approx 5 mins before the race start. It is your responsibility
to be present for the race briefing/start.

Start:
A mandatory briefing will be held on the start line. On completion of the briefing you will be
starting. You must be ready to race in all respects when you arrive for the briefing.

The start will be a running start into the water. Start next to the start flag on the sound of the
foghorn.
Swim course:
The layout of the swim course will be determined by the sea conditions on the day. If the sea is
deemed to be to rough the swim will ether be shortened to quick couple of in / outs in the surf or
cancelled and the event will become a duathlon. Every effort will be made in order for the swim to
go ahead, but safety is paramount.

•A map board will be positioned at the swim entry point clearly showing the swim course
•Swim safety. Lifeguards will be on duty. If you require assistance whilst in the water please
raise one arm in the air
•Wetsuits are optional, but recommended
•You must exit the swim course via the ‘Swim exit’ tent. Under no circumstances are you to leave
the swim with out checking out via the swim exit tent. If you have to exit the sea further down the
beach for any reason you must then return to the swim exit.

Bike course:

•You must ride within the rules and regulations of the Highway code'
•You cannot mount your bike until you cross ‘Mount Line’
•Turn points will be marked with signs
•Certain junctions will have a marshal present
•The sprint race is x 2 out and backs
•The super sprint is x 1 out and back
•You are responsible for counting your own laps
•The area between transition and the public high way is on a public promenade. Please only ride
no faster then 10mph on this section and keep a good look out for members of the public
Run course:
Is a simple out and back run around along the promenade. Please note the positions of the turns
on the above map are approximate. Exact locations will be determined by physical presence of the
flags on the course on race day.
•Turn points will be marked by large 'Run turn flags' and cones
•Run on the right hand side of the path and overtake on the left
•Sprint race is x 2 out and backs
•Super Sprint race is one out and back
•You are responsible for counting your own laps.
•On completion of your lap (s) continue down the finish straight

Finish:
Well done! Once you have passed the finish flags it’s all over! Please ‘dib’ your timing chip as
soon as you have finished, then deposit your chip with the finish staff.

Prize giving:
This will be held at shortly after the event finishes.

Results: Full results will be displayed on the www.votwoevents.co.uk website after the event
along with photos.

course. If you become a minor casualty please report to transition staff who will call the medic. If
you are a major casualty then make yourself know to any member of staff or pass on your location
