WELCOME
THE MACKAY CUTTERS RUGBY LEAGUE FOOTBALL CLUB
IS A DYNAMIC AND PROGRESSVIE CLUB THAT
UNDERSTANDS THE NEED TO MAINTAIN AND CREATE
STRONG CORPORATE AND COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS.

This attitude and determination to support our sponsors
and community is vital to the success of a club that has
been a pillar within the Mackay regional community since
2007.

At the Mackay Cutters, we understand that corporate and
business relationships must be mutually beneficial for
partnerships to succeed.

Becoming a partner with the Mackay Cutters means
becoming a partner with one of the largest
affiliations/networks in rugby league. The Mackay
Cutters are affiliated from the highest level in the NRL
with the NQ Cowboys to the grassroots at local junior
level.

Our semi-professional rugby league team reached the
holy grail in 2013 when they were crowned the 2013
Intrust Super Cup Premiers and 2017 marked the Mackay
Cutters 10 year anniversary.

COMMUNITY

OUR VISION FOR RECONCILIATION
The Mackay Cutters have had a proud association with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples since the
club’s inception in 2008. The Mackay Cutters have undertaken this Reconciliation Action Plan to ensure we
continue to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities whilst making a positive
contribution to closing health and educational gaps between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples and
non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Our vision for reconciliation is to strengthen connections and relationships with the community, build and
increase respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their culture, to continue to
acknowledge our proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and to demonstrate our commitment to
reconciliation to a wider audience with the overarching aim of closing health and educational gaps for
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is further to provide an environment which is free from
discrimination and promotes respectful and positive behaviours.
This vision is valued by our Board of Directors, CEO, Administration, Coaching Staff, Playing Group and every
employee and volunteer involved with the Club. Our Club will continue to build strong associations with all
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Australia. By realising this vision, we can help influence
social change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and other Australians.

                                                                                                                  5

DBCT Cutters Care is an in-school program designed to
promote healthy lifestyles in children and young adults.
                               “We love Cutters Care!”
Many children experience health problems that impact school performance
and general well-being due to poor nutrition and a lack of physical activity.
These health issues can lead to lifelong health problems including obesity,
diabetes and heart conditions.

For many of the students plagued by inactivity and poor nutrition, the school is
an ideal place to provide opportunities for safe and engaging physical activities
and nutritious meals.

PURPOSE
The DBCT Cutters Care program seeks to provide a fun session of healthy
learning and physical activity to teach the kids some fundamentals of sport and
team building exercises. The program will be delivered to all participating
primary and high schools in the Mackay region and is presented by the head
coach of the QCCS Mackay Cutters along with available players.

PATHWAY TO THE TOP – developing rugby league talent in
North Queensland
The Cutters Academy, proudly supported by McDonalds,

through the playing ranks, from local representative teams
through to Mal Meninga Cup and ultimately NRL.

young players 12 to 18 years old (including females). Coaches
work intensively with squads of high performing juniors from
our local area. The academy recruits up to 180 local kids
each year.
The McDonald’s Mackay Cutters Academy aims to:

footballers the opportunity to stay in Mackay and continue
their rugby league education.
History tells us that Mackay is a breeding ground for great
rugby league talent and too often this talent is lost to
North/South Queensland and Interstate. With the creation
of a sustainable Junior Development Program the Mackay
Cutters can work closely with junior players in clubs and
schools to ensure players, coaches and teachers remain up
to date with modern coaching practice.
