Senior School Uniform List
          2018
Notes for Parents

Most of the uniform for Year 9 to Year 11 can be purchased via our onsite Tailor’s Shop,
situated next to the Hunt Theatre. This is by appointment only and bookings should be
made as early as possible. Please contact Mrs Ogburn and her staff on +44 (0)1371 822636
or by e-mail tailors@felsted.org. If you have any questions about uniform, please contact the
Tailor’s Shop directly.
Items of uniform that must be purchased from the Tailor’s Shop are marked in bold type,
and those not available from the Tailor’s Shop are shown in italics.
144 name tapes will automatically be ordered for your child in his or her full registered name
by the Tailor’s Shop. These are usually available at the time of your appointment and the
charge for these will be added to the initial Tailor’s Shop bill. An extra amount will be
ordered if your son or daughter is going to board and sent to his or her House Matron.

A short appointment is required for Sixth Form entry as the majority of uniform can be
bought elsewhere, with the exception of ties, house badges and name tapes. Before buying
games kit, Sixth Form students should wait until confirming their sport options with the
Director of Sport when they begin at Felsted. This will be organised at the start of the
Autumn Term and clothing is available from the Tailor’s Shop.
Students with English as an Additional Language who are attending the LEAP course will be
able to collect their name tapes whilst on the LEAP course if they have not already been
received. Please see your LEAP information pack for further details. In this case, your
House Matron will organise the sewing of your name tapes.
For all overseas students, a set of name tapes will be sent to your home address to enable
labelling of all casual clothes.
All towels must have name tapes on one corner.
All bedding is supplied (pillow, duvet and sheets) but you may bring your own if you wish.
A travel rug and a coffee mug are useful.

                                     ADDITIONAL ITEMS

Below is a guideline for other items that you may need to buy for your child before they join.

Sporting Equipment

Pupils without hockey sticks or tennis racquets should wait and buy them at the Tailor’s Shop
after the beginning of term. We are able to offer a range of sticks and racquets covering a wide
price range.

Gum Shields

The School’s requirement is that gum shields are worn for hockey and rugby and we
recommend that properly fitted ones are used. At the start of the Autumn Term we arrange for
OPRO to visit the School, take impressions and then fit the students with gum shields. To
enable you to make use of this facility a leaflet and order form is enclosed with your induction
pack. You should complete and return it directly to OPRO with the appropriate payment during
the summer holiday. At the start of September OPRO will come into school to arrange fittings. If
the form is not returned to them, it will be assumed that you have made alternative
arrangements. Please note that standard OPRO gum shields are also available all year from the
Tailor’s Shop.
Electrical Equipment
Please note that all electrical equipment is tested by the School in the Autumn Term. If you are
using adaptors on any personal electrical appliances, please only use those that conform to the
British Standard 7671. If you are uncertain of this, the correct adaptors are available from the
Tailor’s Shop or Bookshop.
Stationery

You should not need to buy any specific items but it is suggested that all pupils should arrive
with writing equipment (pen, pencil, ruler) and an A4 notebook. Exercise books will be provided
for Year 9, 10 and 11 pupils, and folders can be purchased from the School Bookshop for Year
12 students.
