              Service Announcement - 18 June 2021
     New Zealand

     Overview

There continues to be high demand for space and equipment for both import
and export cargo. We continue to urge customers to provide forecasted
            volumes 6-8 weeks in advance.
Pressure remains on south-bound bookings from many parts of the Northern
Hemisphere. Carriers continue to announce General Rate Increases (GRI’s) on
a fortnightly basis from some ports, as provided in the previous Market Update.
Please work with your local Mainfreight team to source alternative services
            and/or updated costings.
Significant schedule and congestion issues are beginning to affect south-
bound Asia/China bookings. Further details are set out below.
Ad hoc space is being provided to Mainfreight from a number of shipping lines
who are receiving late cancellations for exports from New Zealand – this will
mean extra capacity is available, if cut-off’s can be met. We will continue to
offer this space to our existing customers as it becomes available.
Ports of Auckland has provided notice that they will be temporarily expanding
manual operations at the container terminal and reducing the scale of
automated operations. Their container terminal is now being reconfigured for
increased manual operations. This decision was made due to an incident that
            occurred 17 June 2021.

     Export

Reefer equipment stock remains at critical levels – no change since our
            last update.

effective from 15 July 2021. These increases will be adjusted for all shipments
utilising this carrier and range between NZD$25 – NZD$110 per container.

     Import

NOR options are available for import cargo from China and Southeast Asia.
These options are providing rate relief on market
costs. Mainfreight recommends using NOR equipment where possible as
this will be prioritized by carriers to assist with local equipment stock levels.
FCL allocations can be secured on some south-bound origins. Please speak
with your local Mainfreight Account Manager to discuss this.

     LCL

Our LCL consolidation services are continuing to provide solutions for our
customers for regular replenishment of their inventory levels. With Mainfreight
operating Consolidation services to and from Asia, Europe, USA and Australia
we are well-positioned to assist our customers’ requirements.

     Foreign Market Summary

     Asia

Summary of current congestion is below, based on major port hubs.
Tranship services in Singapore and Port Klang continue to have prolonged
delays ranging from 10 to 30 days.
Following our previous update the Covid-19 affected regions continue to
impact import shipments from SE Asia and China. Vessel schedules currently
published are showing ‘gaps’ in services which will create flow-on effects on
bookings, space and equipment from June through to August and September.
Please continue to forward plan and book shipments in order to secure space
or identify alternative options ahead of cargo-ready dates.
Mainfreight has increased its allocation with carriers to allow for increased LCL
cargo. This will provide customers with flexibility and give relief in the situation
where customers cannot get FCL bookings to match cargo-ready dates.
We have increased our weekly allocations with our airline partners to bolster
our ability to move customers’ cargo in situations where airfreight is required.

     Australia

Australian exports continue to be congested with overbooking forcing rolled
bookings. Carriers also continue to implement GRI’s to combat reduced space
availability. Please provide your local Mainfreight office with forward forecasts
            where possible.
Union action has been announced at Patricks and Hutchinsons Terminals in
Australia. This will slow down operations as volumes currently exceed
operational capacity with imposed bans on overtime and shift extensions.
Please work closely with your Mainfreight teams to understand how this will
affect forward bookings and current delay periods.

     Europe

Export routings to Europe continue to be limited. We can provide options but
            continue to request forward forecasts.
Carriers have advised that due to transhipment congestion and backlogs in SE
Asia, import bookings from Europe to NZ will be limited for the next 6-8 weeks.
Space on alternative routings via the Panama Canal is available on an ad-hoc
            basis.
Alternative Ports of Origin can be considered as equipment stocks varies at
major ports – your Mainfreight Account Manager can help you with this option.
