Course Joining Instructions (All courses)
SIA Training Consultants Ltd
SIA Training Consults Ltd are an approved Highfeilds training centre, all courses are accredited and
certificated by the individual awarding body.

Therefore SIA Training Consults Ltd run strict policies when teaching and carrying out exam, this is to
ensure that all candidates benefit from the courses we provide.

Policies:

       During lessons all mobile phones MUST be SWITCHED OFF.
       No smoking throughout the building, smoke break will be given during the course.
       No food is to be consumed during lessons.

Payment:

If you paid your deposit then the remaining balance will be due on the first day of the course,
otherwise all fees are due on the first day of the courses.

Timings:

The course start daily at 0900 and finishes at 1700, candidates maybe turned away by the instructors
for lateness

Documents:

The Security Industry Authority requires that you provide proof of identity, you are therefore
required to bring with you the following, further information can be found on the SIA website which
is www.the-sia.org.uk please see attached ANNEX A

You are also required to bring with you four (4) passport size photographs with a white background,
no hats or glasses to be worn.

Please note that we will photocopy all proofs of ID and address, this will be kept on our files for a
period of three years, we will not copy account details, and this will be blanked out.

  “PLEASE NOTE THAT CANDIDATES WHO FAIL TO PRODUCE ALL THE DOCUMENTS WILL NOT BE
                          ALLOWED TO SIT THE FINAL EXAMS”

Exams:
Candidates will be required to sit one or two or three multiple choice exams at the end of the course
depending which course they are taking , therefore candidates will be required to take notes during
the course, candidates will be required to bring a note book and pen.

Each exam lasts for a period of 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Physical Intervention:

As part the BTEC level 2 Award in Door Supervision candidates are required to complete Module 4
(Physical Intervention) candidates are reminded that during this phase of training that they are
MUST listen to their Instructor, when the instructors tells the candidates to STOP for any reason
then they must stop whatever they are doing and wait for further instructions from the instructor.

Candidates will be required to sign a medical and fitness documents that states that they are free
from injury or illness prior to starting this phase of the training.

Dress:

Candidates are required to wear tracksuits and trainers for the physical intervention ONLY

Candidate Assessment: (CP Course Only)

Candidate will be assessed throughout the course, this is a requirement of the awarding body, and
candidates must pass all 5 core units to be able to sit the final exam.

All candidates who fail any core unit will not go forward until they have passed the individual unit.

Cheating:

Any person caught cheating during an exam will be removed from the course, they will not be
allowed to continue and no refund will be given.

Taxi and mini cabs:

There are several good Taxi and mini cabs services in the Cinderford area, although prices may very
in prices.

Buses:

Due to our Location buses run from Gloucester bus station on a regular basis, from Gloucester to
Cinderford you will need to take either 30 or 31 bus, travel time is about 45 minutes.

Private Transport:

Candidates are more than welcome to use their own transport we have a limited amount of parking
spaces, this is based on a first come first served basis.

Lateness:

Although we ask candidates to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the courses starting each day, we
do understand the there can be traffic problems, and therefore ask candidates to call the instructor
on 0800 622 6557 if they are running late.

Lunch Breaks:

There are several good cafes in the Cinderford area, all are reasonably priced and serve good quality
food.

Food:

No food maybe consumed on our premises, candidate may have tea and coffee, this will be provided
by us; however candidates will be required to keep the kitchen clean and tidy, failure to ensure
cleanliness will result in the loss of the use of the kitchen.

Smoking:

Candidates are reminded that it is illegal to smoke on any business premises, candidates are asked
not to smoke outside of the building and to place used cigarettes in the bins and not on the street.

Complaints Procedure:

SIA Training Consultants Ltd has a customer complaints procedure in place, if you have a complaint
or wish to see a copy of the complaints procedure, please speak to a member of the admin staff.

Reasonable Adjustment:

SIA Training Consults Ltd offer candidates the following assistance during the exam phase of the
course:

       Reader: - to assist those with dyslexia. (documentation will required to confirm this)

Candidates wishing for help should notify the company prior to the course, there are no extra
charges for this service.

Home Work:

As with all our courses there is an element of home study whilst on the course, we do encourage
candidates to study the handouts that we have produced.

Handouts:

All candidates will be given handouts throughout the course, it is recommended that candidates
produce a best book and take notes throughoutout.

Pre-course reading:     (CP & PI Only)

Prior to starting the courses candidates will be issued with a pre-course reading package, candidates
MUST complete the pre-course reading material as this forms part of your portfolio.

Research:       (CP Course Only)

During the course candidates will be expected to carryout a research project and present this in
typed form, candidate are given three days to research their project and present it to the instructor.

Equipment:      (CP Course Only)

Candidates are required to bring the following:

       Note book and pens.
       Dictaphone (if you have one)
       Digital camera with blank SD card
       Blank USB memory stick.
       Laptop (if you have one).

Dress Code:     (CP Course Only)

Candidates are requested to wear to wear smart casuals during the course, Jeans may be worn
providing they are not split and they are clean.

Suits will be required for the assignment project and research project.

Any candidate who turns up in tracksuit will be turned away from the course.

Dress Code:     (Control & Restraint ONLY)

Candidates are to wear the following only throughout this course:

       Track suit or sport clothing
       Trainers.

Candidates are NOT to wear Jeans or Trousers.

Presentation: (CP Course Only)

During the course candidates will carryout a project assignment, this will involve everything that
they have been taught throughout the course, candidates will be expected to give this project in
written form and give it as a verbal presentation to the instructors.

Failures:

Although we can you the information to pass the exams, we cannot force the information into you,
the candidates has to meet us half way and want to learn, there are occasions when a candidates
fails and exam, there is no reason for anyone to feel embarrassed, some candidates have a phobia
and panic when taking exam, we are here to help you so please tell us before you sit any exams if
you have any difficulties.

Bed and Breakfast:       (CP Course)

This will depend on which CP course you are attending, generally candidates are responsible for
providing their own accommodation, however if you have selected CP Option 2 with
accommodation then we are responsible for confirming your booking and payment.

                                       Identity Requirement
In line with the Security Industry Authority’s documentation requirements, we at SIA Training
Consultants Ltd are required by LAW to check the identity of all our candidates, therefore candidates
must make sure that they read the information below.

   Two identity documents from the revised Group A list. At least one document must show the
       learner’s current address and at least one document must show their date of birth;
                                                or
 One identity document from the Group A list and 2 documents from the Group B list. At least one
  document must show the learner’s current address and at least one document must show their
                                          date of birth.

The list of identity documents are provided below:
Group A Documents

A1      Signed valid passport of any nationality
A2      DO NOT USE THIS CODE
A3      Signed UK photo driving licence (both parts required)
A4      UK birth certificate or certified copy issued within 12 months of birth, but not a
        photocopy
A5      DO NOT USE THIS CODE

Group B Documents

B1      Valid EU photo ID card
B2      Valid UK firearms licence with photo
B3      Signed UK paper driving licence
B4      Marriage certificate or civil partnership certificate, with translation if not in English
B5      Certified copy (not photocopy) of a UK birth certificate issued more than 12 months
        after date of birth
B6      Non-UK birth certificate, with translation if not in English
B7      P45 statement of income for tax purposes on leaving a job issued in the last 12
        months
B8      P60 annual statement of income for tax purposes issued in the last 12 months
B9      Bank or building society statement issued to current address, less than three months
        old. You can use more than one statement as long as each is issued by a different
        bank or building society.
B10     Mortgage statement issued in the last 12 months
B11     Gas, electric, landline phone, water, satellite, cable bill issued to current address within
        Last 3 months (mobile phone contract INVALID FROM 31st AUGUST 2012). You
        can only use one utility bill in support of your application.
