Third Party Certification
A fire door is a vital safety device, engineered to save lives and property. Regular testing and
assessment of fire doors and components is essential to ensure products will perform in the
event of a fire. Third party certification is an important process for independently and impartially
assessing fire door systems against a defined set of standards. Once products are tested and
passed, the manufacturer is issued with a certificate to demonstrate that the product meets
those requirements.
As a participating member of two key third party certification programmes, SDC operates a strict
audit of manufacturing control and supply systems. We regularly test our doors and doorsets to
ensure they meet all appropriate building regulations and are fit for purpose.
BWF-CERTIFIRE
The BWF-Certifire Fire Door and Doorset Scheme was established by the fire door
manufacturing industry and aims to promote the importance of using third party
certificated fire doors and components as a critical part of any passive fire plan.
The Scheme offers clear and simple methods of tracing a fire door and its
components throughout the entire fire door chain.
BM TRADA Q-MARK
Q-Mark product certification from Exova BM TRADA is regarded as one of the
most rigorous certification processes available for construction products. It
is recognised by controlling authorities and home warranty providers such as
the National House Building Council, and is used by world-class construction
companies and manufacturers.
Getting fire door installation correct means property and people are protected.
Getting even just one element wrong means life and property are put at risk.

THE ENVIRONMENT
SDC believes that conservation of our environment is paramount. As a responsible manufacturer,
our policy is to reduce waste by maximising raw material usage throughout our manufacturing
processes.
We also use timber substitutes (such as MDF) wherever possible, without reducing the
performance or appearance of our products.
CHAIN OF CUSTODY
SDC supply doors, door frames and doorsets under the FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody
certification, offering assurance that an independent, audited route to market is followed.
Annotation of certification is included on all associated documentation, from order to dispatch,
guaranteeing the timber we use is from appropriate sources.
