Why are Sponsorships Important?
 As a Club or Society you have limited funding and resources.
 Sponsorship can help you organize better activities.
 Develop Societies/Clubs in the long-term perspective.

 Catalyst for change.

Quick Recap – How do your finances work?
 Practically you have two accounts – Grant and Non-Grant.
 Grant Account  Students’ Union UCL
 Non-Grant Account  Whatever you earn.
 Important!
Money from the Union (Students’ Union UCL) is not a
 sponsorship.

                                                                                            sponsor2018

Is Sponsorship the same as a Donation?
 No. A Donation will not require a legal agreement to be put in place.
 Sponsorship needs an agreement/contract.
 You cannot sign the contract on behalf of your Club/Society. Only the
Activities Officer can do this for you. If he is not available, the Democracy,
Operations and Communication Officer may also authorise an agreement.
 You can find a Sponsorship Agreement Template on our website.

Head to this link for a copy of the Sponsorship Template: http://studentsunionucl.org/forms-and-information

Exercise 1
You are President and Treasurer of a Sports Club. Your Club has done quite
well in previous years in LUSL Competitions. However, the previous
committee has left little Non-Grant Funds.

Where would you start looking for Companies?
What would be the potential argument behind sponsoring your Club?

                                                                      sponsor2018

Exercise 2
You’re a General Interest Society. Last year, you organised quite a few
events and your Society is seeing a steady increase in memberships.
However, like in Exercise 1, you are short of funds.
Where would you look?
What arguments would you use?

Most Importantly….

     Do not sign anything yourself!
