LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
2022 will see one of the largest projects in our parks system since we upgraded Upper South Park. Construction is slated to start on a fully
inclusive playground and splash pad at Swan Park. With strong community support, the Friends of Waupaca Parks was able to fundraise
$700,000 to create a special place at Swan Park. The ability for ALL community members to enjoy a playground and safe water play will be
amazing. I’m thankful for the support of the community to make this project happen. Stay tuned as we continue moving forward on this
wonderful project.
With help from two WI DNR RTP Grants we will also be making some upgrades to trails and boardwalks to keep our trails accessible and safe for
the community. Projects will be accomplished at both Swan Park and Eco Park with the help of WISCOR this summer so get out and enjoy all
that Waupaca has to offer this summer!
As a reminder, please sign up for our monthly newsletter to keep up on current Park and Rec offerings and events. You can do this at

If you have any comments or concerns throughout the year please feel free to contact me at 715-258-4435.

RIVER RIDGE TRAIL
The River Ridge Trail is part of a plan to preserve natural areas in a non-motorized trail system that
winds throughout the Waupaca area.
The first trail segment of 1.6 miles opened in fall of 1996. New off-road trail segments have been
added each year to total over 11 miles within the city limits and includes a street route of about 12 miles
to connect these off-road sections. Bikes are allowed only on limestone or blacktopped surfaces.
The trail lies in the tension zone between Wisconsin’s northern and southern eco-regions, an area of
unique biological diversity. By linking parks and public and private lands, the community and its
visitors will be able to enjoy the wealth of natural features for years to come.
The Waupaca Tree Advisory Committee has developed the trail with the support of the City of Waupaca, Waupaca County, WCC, Rawhide,
local businesses, organizations, and individuals. Support has come in many ways, from generous land easements, donated labor, materials,
equipment, expertise, and funds. River Ridge Trail is a work in progress and its future depends on the continued support of the community.
