STALLIONS 2020 - Rathbarry Stud
Welcome to Rathbarry & Glenview Studs 2020
           Dear Breeders,
When working on our brochure twelve months ago we thought that all the uncertainties in our industry caused by BREXIT would be resolved by now.
Unfortunately we are all still in limbo and will now have to wait and see what will evolve in Great Britain over the next few months.
It is therefore more important than ever for breeders to focus on quality and value when considering their 2020 mating plans and we hope that the
contents of our brochure will be of assistance to you in this regard.
In recent years, ACCLAMATION has been famous for his number of sons at stud, but now added to that are an increasing number of his daughters
proving their success as broodmares. It is no surprise then that both his yearling colts and fillies were in great demand at the sales in 2019 and with his
continuing good health and excellent fertility, we look forward to another busy season with him in 2020.
Last year we said that KODI BEAR’s foals were of a consistently high quality. This statement was endorsed at the 2019 yearling sales when his progeny
were purchased by some of the shrewdest judges in the business giving excellent returns to breeders who used his services. We eagerly await his first 2
           year old runners in 2020.
JAMES GARFIELD, who covered a high class book of mares with excellent fertility in his first season in 2019, has really developed into a fine physical
specimen over the summer months and we look forward to seeing his first foals due next spring. To reward breeders past and future for supporting
the horse, the Syndicate has decided to award mare owners who breed a 2 year old Black Type Performer by JAMES GARFIELD with a Free Lifetime
           Breeding Right to the horse.
We would like to assure mare owners that TAGULA is hale and hearty and will be available again in 2020 to cover a restricted book of mares at a
           reasonable fee.
For 2020 season, Glenview Stud has a strong line up of proven stallions offering NH breeders a rich and diverse source of successful bloodlines.
BLUE BRESIL is an exciting new addition to the farm for 2020 having joined us from Yorton Farm where he stood since his relocation from France in
2016. BLUE BRESIL is the sire of multiple Cheltenham performers and his National Hunt Black Type winners to date include Grade 1 Ryanair Hurdle
winner Mick Jazz; Grade 1 and multiple Grade 3 Hurdle winner L’Autonomie; Grade 2 Hurdle & Chase Winner Le Prezien and four time Grade 3 Hurdle
and Chase Winner, Saint Goustan Blue. With the impressive performances of his progeny on the track and in the sales ring, BLUE BRESIL should prove a
big hit with NH breeders in 2020.
He will be backed up by our established line up of proven stallions, MALINAS, SHIROCCO and SHOLOKHOV who all have some very nice prospects to
look forward to for the 2019/2020 jumps season.
Finally, not forgetting YOUMZAIN, whose first crop of Irish conceived foals are about to appear at the forthcoming sales. We have got great feedback
from breeders who are very impressed with the excellent quality and confirmation of his stock and his progeny are starting to make a name for themselves
           on the racetrack.
In conclusion we wish to re-assure all breeders that our principal concern is to provide you with the highest possible degree of value and service. To breed
a horse capable of greatness is every mare owner’s ambition and we hope that Rathbarry & Glenview stallions will enable you to realise that dream.

New To Glenview Stud for 2020

Exciting New
     Addition for 2020
We are delighted to add proven Grade 1 sire
Blue Bresil to our Glenview Stud roster for the
2020 breeding season. The son of Smadoun
joined us from Yorton Stud Farm, where he
stood since his relocation from France in 2016.
Blue Bresil is the sire of multiple Cheltenham
performers and has sired 10 Individual
National Hunt Black-Type Winners to date,
including Grade 1 Ryanair Hurdle winner
Mick Jazz, Grade 2 hurdle and chase winner
Le Prezien and four-time Grade 3 hurdle and
     chase winner Saint Goustan Blue.
     The Francois Nicolle-trained L’Autonomie has
lit up Auteuil over the past year. As a 3-Y-O she
won a maiden, a Listed contest and finished
third in a Grade 1 all over hurdles. In 2019, she
decimated the field by 18L in a Grade 1 Hurdle
having already won four Grade 3 hurdles.
Focusing on the 2018/19 season, Blue Flight
already successful in a point to point and over
hurdles, really blossomed having turned to
chasing. An 8L. winner over fences in January,
he soon completed a hat-trick, culminating in
Listed success at the expense of Black Corton
     at Kelso.
The success of Blue Bresil’s progeny on the
racetrack has been mirrored by the prices
realized by his progeny in the sales ring.
Indiana Jones realised €280,000 at the
Osarus National Hunt sales after finishing a
close second on his sole start in a 3-Y-O hurdle
in Auteuil. Tom Malone purchased his unraced
son Gemini Cricket at the 2019 Derby Sale
for €200,000. Donnchadh Doyle returned a
tremendous profit on Big Bresil when selling
for £170,000 at the Aintree sale having shown
great promise when finishing second on his
sole start in a 4-Y-O maiden in Liscarrol.

Eye to the Future
Malinas began his stallion career in France
and moved to Yorton Farm in England in 2012.
The 2018/2019 season proved to be a
successful one for Malinas’ progeny bringing
his number of Individual National Hunt
Black-Type Winners to 13 and this in spite of
covering limited books of mares in his earlier
     stud career.
One of those winners, Mister Malarky hails
from the first crop conceived at Yorton. The
2018/2019 season saw him reach a career-
best over fences. He gained three chase
wins and 3 places from six starts, including
Grade 2 success in the Reynoldstown Chase
when he was the only six-year-old in the field,
prompting trainer Colin Tizzard to say, “You
have to remember he is only six and is a lovely
prospect’. The ultra consistent Bothar Dubh
was flying the flag high for local trainer Declan
Queally with 4 wins over hurdles following
his impressive 12L win in the 5-Y-O maiden in
     Ballindenisk.
Some Malinas progeny to look forward to in
the coming season include the Tom George-
trained Enemy Coast Ahead, who ran out an
     easy ten length winner of his bumper on debut;
     the Noel Meade & Mags O’Toole £105,000
purchase Eurobot, point to point & maiden
hurdle winner; and Madam Deluxe, who so
impressed Jamie Codd with her debut second
that he paid £90,000 to secure the 4-Y-O mare.
She is now in training with Nicky Henderson
who believes that 'you'd go a long way to see a
     better mare for novice hurdling'.
It is extremely unfortunate that we will not see
the ill-fated Malinas Jack again, who having
won a maiden hurdle during the Leopardstown
Christmas Festival, was fatally injured on his
next start in a Grade 1 Hurdle.

The sire of Annie Power continues to
celebrate graded success on the track, with
the Cheltenham hill conquered by his talented

Topping the Sales
In view of Sholokhov’s success producing 13
Individual National Hunt Black Type Winners
to date, including Gold Cup hero, Don Cossack,
from flat bred mares, it was no surprise to see
buyers queuing up to get their hands on his
national hunt bred progeny, in 2019.
At the 2019 Cheltenham February Sale, Tom
Malone and Gordon Elliott went to £410,000
to secure Wide Receiver, an impressive winner
of his sole point-to-point start for Cormac
     Farrell of Leamore Horses.
Malone was also the successful buyer of
Muckamore, who showed great promise when
finishing second on his sole start for Colin
McKeever at Loughanmore. Malone went to
£190,000 on behalf of Paul Nicholls.
Malone and Nicholls again paired up to give
£100,000 for a handsome store by Sholokhov
offered by Busherstown at the Goffs UK Spring
Store Sale. Meanwhile, at the Tattersalls Ireland
Derby Sale, Highflyer Bloodstock and Gerry
Hogan Bloodstock were forced to €80,000
and €75,000 respectively to secure the sons of
     Sholokhov.
While his young stock impress in the sales ring
and between the flags, Sholokhov’s progeny
continue to make their mark under rules.
Shishkin is just one of those to look forward to
this season. The five year old trained by Nicky
Henderson won a Kempton bumper by eight
lengths, unchallenged, in March. He had been
     bought for £170,000 after winning a four-year-
old maiden at Lingstown by the same impressive
     margin in November.
The achievements of Kruzhlinin must also be
commended. Previously rated 148, the Grade 3
Hurdle Winner achieved point to point history
with a staggering 13 wins to be crowned Joint
     Champion Pointer.

A Popular Choice
We welcomed the first crop of Irish conceived
foals by Youmzain this year following his
relocation to Glenview Stud from Haras du
     Quesnay.
There has been great feedback from breeders
who are very impressed with the excellent
quality and conformation of his progeny.
Youmzain retired to stud in 2011 following an
illustrious 6 year racing career with earnings in
excess of €4.25 million. During this long career
he fully proved his durability, soundness, superb
temperament, as well as his considerable ability.
The Dual Gr.1 Winner, retired sound with the
admirable record of 6 wins and 16 places from
     32 starts.
Youmzain has passed on his ability to his
progeny having already sired Group Winners
under both codes including Saglawy, Delire
D’estruval, Etourneau, etc. over jumps and Sea
Calisi, Royal Youmzain & Falaze, etc. on the flat.
Two four year olds to look forward to in the
coming season are the Alan King and Highflyer
     £58,000 purchase Sheshoon Sonny, who
ran out an easy winner of his bumper and
     the 350,000 guineas Phoenix Thoroughbred
purchase Deja, who recently extended his
unbeaten run to 4 wins from only 5 starts.
Considering Youmzain’s success as a racehorse
and the success of his progeny on the racetrack
it was no surprise how popular Youmzain
proved to be with breeders upon his arrival to
Glenview Stud in April covering 124 mares with
111 mares scanned in foal, which bodes well for
     his future here.
