                                                                   enriching lives through sport
MATCH FORMAT Singles - is to be split into 2 levels/grades:
                 1. Open State Singles 2. Reverse State Singles
                 2. Reserve State Singles
This revised format is being played to provide an opportunity for more evenly
competitive matches and recognition of achievement of players at all levels.

Open State Singles - the following achievements would automatically place
players in the “Open State Singles”:
                 • Selection in Men’s State team within the past 5 years

Note: Players that have not met this criteria may request inclusion in
the Open State Singles by sharing their case in writing (e.g. details of
                 achievements at club level, etc.)

                 * The WS NSW Lawn Bowls Committee will decide on the final allocation of
players into Reserve State Singles or Open State Singles.

Pairs - Athletes are entitled to nominate their own pairs partners for the
Championships provided that both athletes have been given their consent. If
you do not have a pair’s partner, the organisation may nominate a partner if
                 requested.

Womens - To run a woman’s only competition there needs to be a minimum
of six (6) female entrants. If this is not the case, female competitors will
                 compete in the open competition.
DRAW The draw will be published one week prior to the Championship.
START OF PLAY Matches may commence as early as 9am on each day of the event. However,
start times will be dependent on draw sizes and earlier start times may be
                 necessary.
EQUIPMENT To avoid potential damage to lawn bowls greens, whether grass or synthetic,
REQUIREMENTS wheelchair users should endeavour to show due care and consideration to
ensure marks left are negligible or, at worst, ca be removed by a greens roller.
The following guidelines should be observed:
                 • Where possible, take a wide circle when turning on the green.
                 • Castors, made of nylon or polyurethane are becoming increasingly
popular. The width of these should be a minimum of 75mm. If the edges
are sharp they must be rounded off.
                 • Large, usually rear tyres (preferably pneumatic) with a minimum of
                 • two x 620 x 45mm is required. The most suitable tread patterns are slicks
or inverted tread tyres (e.g. a standard BMX tyre).
                 • The most suitable tyres for the small or front wheels are 200mm x 50mm
                    with a pneumatic tyre.
