School uniform and sports kit list
The school’s uniform supplier is Monkhouse and purchases can be made
online with a click and collect service available in school.
There is also a second hand uniform shop, 2Kit, run by volunteers from the
PFA. The dates of their pop up shops are advertised on our website.
Standard of dress and appearance
All pupils must wear the school uniform correctly, to and from school and
normally for all occasions when they are representing the school: this
includes school visits and sports fixtures whether or not these are in school
hours. Exceptions to this will be notified by the member of staff in charge of
the activity.
It is essential for the appearance of all pupils to be compatible with their
attendance at a uniformed school which has high expectations of good
behaviour. The following uniform regulations constitute part of the terms and
conditions signed by parents when they accept a place for their child at the
school. To save the expense of replacement of unacceptable items we ask
parents to adhere to the details of the school’s uniform regulations when
equipping their child. The decision of the school is final in respect of all
school uniform regulations.
Appearance of students
• All students are expected to keep their hair clean, of a natural single
colour, tidy and out of the eyes.
• Hair should not be cut shorter than a No.2.
• Hair which falls to the shoulders is considered to be long. Long hair
should be tied back at all times.
• Hair accessories should be plain and in school colours. No decorative
hair braiding or beading is allowed.

• Where a headscarf is worn, this should be plain and in tune with
school colours. The full face of a student must be visible at all times.
• Students should keep themselves clean-shaven at all times.
• Make-up and nail varnish are not allowed. This includes tinted lip
balms.
• Tattoos (temporary or permanent) and facial and body piercings
should not be visible at any time.
Jewellery
Apart from wrist watches, items of jewellery are not considered appropriate
with the exception of the following:
• Neck chains, medallions and name bracelets, if worn, must not be
visible while in school uniform and must be removed for PE. This
includes medical detailed jewellery.
• Rings on fingers are not permitted.
• Plain ear studs; one per ear and worn only in ear lobes are permitted.
All jewellery must be removed for PE and games lessons without exception.
All jewellery/watches of significant value (cost or sentimental) should not be
brought into school and is done so at the owner’s risk.
If you require clarification on the regulations or have personal requirements,
you must discuss this with the relevant Deputy Head (Pastoral) in Primary
School or the relevant Head of Year or Senior Deputy Head (Pastoral) in
Senior School at your earliest convenience.

Naming of uniform
When naming sports and PE kit please ensure names are displayed clearly
and legibly.
You may embroider or attach name labels on the outside of the garment as
follows:
• On the left hand side (as you look at the garment) of the chest on
tops and swimsuits, on the coloured side of the rugby shirt;
• On the left hand side at hip level on shorts, games skirts, tracksuit
bottoms, swimming trunks;
• Towels, socks and footwear should be named on the outside if at all
possible.
• It is our experience that iron-on labels are not as durable or as visible
as the embroidered variety.

Primary School uniform list
In primary school our nursery and reception pupils wear PE kit, pupils from
Year 1 up to Year 6 wear the following school uniform, according to the year
group they are in:

This is a compulsory item of uniform to be worn throughout the school day.
Hoodies are not to be worn either under or over the blazer.
Shirt Clean, plain white shirt designed to be worn with a tie and completely
tucked into trousers or skirt at the waistband. Underwear must not be
visible through the shirt.
*Tie School tie (incorporating House colours)* or House tie* or special awards

*Skirt School tartan pleated skirt. Skirts should be to the knee in length – this is a
strict rule. The skirt must not be shortened at the hem or rolled over at the
waistband. When buying the skirt please allow for growth.

*Trousers Plain, charcoal grey and well pressed. Black trousers are not allowed.
Fashionable ‘skinny’ trousers are not permitted.
*Jumper V-necked, plain indigo with school colour border (optional).
Socks Plain colour and/or of sober pattern, ankle length, compatible with uniform.

Tights/socks Plain black opaque tights or plain black socks.
Shoes Plain style, black. Leather which can be polished is preferred - matt is
acceptable (not suede or canvas) provided the shoe is essentially plain
without coloured eyeholes or laces, medallions, overt logos, etc.
Boots may not be worn.

Coats Coats should be of a colour and style compatible with a school uniform -
overcoats, raincoats or anoraks in grey, navy, black or blue which covers the
blazer completely and be without logos. Fur, leather, PVC fabrics and trims
are not acceptable.

School bags
Your child will require the following carriers for their books, kit and other
items:
Pupils in all years may bring in to school a small single shoulder bag (e.g. a
laptop or messenger bag) capable of carrying their laptop and the small
number of books, files or equipment needed for two lessons (not for water
bottles). To avoid the potential health and safety concerns of having
numerous large bags in classrooms or corridors, parents are asked not to
purchase or provide full sized school bags, backpacks, sports bags or similar
for this purpose. In terms of colour or style, exactly as with other bags
already used at school, these items should be sober in colour and should not

*A bespoke document wallet
Students will use this to carry papers, folder, pencil cases etc. to and from
lessons. The document wallet must be purchased from Monkhouse’s website.
*A sports holdall
This is to carry PE and sports kit separately from school books. Dimensions
should not be in excess of 300 mm high x 560 mm wide x 300 mm deep.
A cool bag or suitable container
This is needed to carry ingredients/products for food technology lessons.
Lockers
Please note the size of our lockers when purchasing school bags. We do not
wish to appear over-prescriptive but we would appreciate assistance from
pupils and parents to ensure that our systems work effectively. Bags must fit
(together when necessary) into our lockers which have dimensions of:

The locker has a shelf 250 mm down from the top, for books. It also has a
double hook for hanging a coat so the open space for bags of 637mm (H) x
457mm (W) x 457mm (D)
Additional items required:
• A purple pen for their learning
• A reusable water bottle, preferably plain in design and colour,
labelled clearly with child name
