Guests in the Building and Safety

• We LOVE parents on our campus. For safety reasons,
we do NOT allow anyone to free roam in our building
    unless they’re on staff.
• Please deliver and wait for your child to be exchanged
    at our round about/front entry.
• However, there are many times we welcome guests, and
we’d love to have you on our campus at those times.
• Only biological parents will have automatic access to
their children. You may come to our school at anytime.
If you want additional people to pick up your child, their
names must be added to the Registration Card. They
will have to show a state issued, photo ID to pick up
    your child.
• If custody issues ensue, we will follow court orders. We
must have a copy on file.

                                                                 5

What to NOT Send to SFOL!
Please do not send any of the following items with your child at
any time as these things pose major safety issues and
                            academic distractions.
• Toys
• Coins
• Hats
• Costume masks
• Rocks
• Purses
• Capes
• Shoes that have squeakers or make animal noises
• Crocs
• Flip flops
• Backpacks

We highly recommend that you do not send your child in expensive or one-of a
kind outfits! We get messy when we eat, paint almost daily, and participate in fun
science experiments and outdoor activities.

We prefer NO BOWS!

Most children remove them throughout the day and place them in the strangest
places. If a bow goes missing, please notify your child’s teacher, or an Admin staff
member, a description of the missing bow so we may look for it once pick up is
over. We will Group Me you if we find the bow.

                                                                                       6

As stated in our Policy Handbook on the Holidays page, tuition is due in full during the
holiday weeks; however, “vacation” time is granted after 6 months and 12 months in

• Your child MUST have been enrolled PRIOR to November 23, 2020, to take two weeks
                                          “vacation”.

      • Your child MUST have been enrolled PRIOR to June 21, 2021, to take one week
                                             “vacation”.
• This means that your child does NOT attend and you do NOT pay tuition for two weeks.

To take 2 weeks “vacation” for Christmas:

participates!
You can download the Group Me app from the App Store, Play Store and Windows Phone Store. If
you’re on a desktop, you can use the web version of Group Me instead.

To set up Group Me:
Enter your Facebook details, Microsoft Account, Google Account, phone number or email address,
        and then tap Continue.
Enter your name, set an avatar (profile photo) and create a password.
Check the box to indicate that you agree to the Terms of Service.
Check the box if you want to sync your contacts to Group Me, then tap Continue.
Once we add your number to our groups a group chat icon will show up in your chats feed.
**If you need any help you can always ask a member of Admin and they can help you out.

                                      How we use Group Me:
• Turn ON notifications or check each day.
• We post during nap, lunch, before school, and after school.
• Not all students are posted each day, but everyone will get posted at least
    once a week.
• If you want to ask a teacher a question that pertains only to your child, please
do so through a private Group Me message, not a whole group posting-too
much traffic. i.e.– can’t find a piece of a nap mat or a lid to a Tupperware
container in their lunchbox-not everyone needs to know that.
• Please use discretion when posting illness information publicly, as not to alarm
    others.
• To discuss concerns, please feel free to contact a member of Admin.

                                                                                                     14

We will send out Group Me messages for all weather events.

In the event of an evacuation, our students will be taken to the large grey
                              building next door.

Medicine will only be dispensed to the child whose name is on the bottle/box.
A parent must fill out a form in the medical log in the front foyer.

                                                                                15
Discipline of Children
(12 months to 18 months)
If a child bites, scratches, or hits another child, the teacher will redirect
that child away from the child he or she hurt. The teacher will use kind
words to talk to both children about how we treat and love our friends.

(18 months – 2 ½ or 3 years of age)
Any child who bites, scratches, or hits another child will be removed from
the situation. The teacher will have a conversation with the child on how
we are nice to our friends, and that we do not hurt our friends. The child
will then be redirected to another activity.

Positive Reinforcement
Strawberry Fields of Learning uses positive reinforcement as the primary
way to promote desired behavior.
If a child consistently hurts others, and parents do not acknowledge or
actively help to resolve the situation, we will ask the student to leave
SFOL.

                                                                                16

Instead of...Say
This year, we will have the motto...a Culture of
Compliments! In other words, we want to focus primarily
on the positive and great things that we all do every day!
One of the puzzle pieces to make this positive, is the way
our own children speak and think of themselves and their
abilities. We want to empower students to make good
decisions and to realize how important they really are.
Therefore, below you will find a list of statements/actions
that we will be consistently redirecting. Please help us at
home by reminding your children of these positive phrases
         and expectations at Strawberry Fields!!

Instead of “I can’t”- say “I need a little help”
Instead of interrupting - say “excuse me”
Instead of “It’s mine” - say “let’s share”
Instead of “They made me do it”- say “I did it because…”

                                                               33

disposable cups will be provided. The following schedule is when water
will be offered to every child. Beyond these times, students may ask for,

SFOL Restroom Policy
Upon entering the rotation classes, students will need to be able to ask to
go to the restroom outside of the scheduled potty breaks we take each
day. Every time a child requests to go to the potty, the request is
honored. The Kindergarteners are allowed to report to the restroom
independently. (One at a time). All other rotation students will be
accompanied by an adult to the restroom. Students will wipe themselves
independently, unless they request assistance or unless the adult detects a
                         need to help them wipe.

                              Reminder List
Listed below are helpful reminders of our policies at Strawberry Fields of Learning! Please find additional
information on our website: strawberryprep.org. As you review our reminders, please initial next to them and
return this paper to a Director or Admin.

I understand that my child will rotate through core classes and have a homeroom teacher.
Primary communication will be with your child's Homeroom teacher and through Group Me.
Tuition is due on Monday. A $25 late fee will be assessed at 9 A.M. on Tuesday.
Please put you child's name on EVERYTHING.
No peanuts/tree nuts in any food is allowed.
Nothing that says “May contain traces of nuts” or “Processed in a facility with nuts” may be
     brought into our building.
We cannot heat up your child’s lunch or drink.
If food needs to be kept cold, please send an ice pack in your child’s lunchbox.
If girls are wearing dresses, we ask that you have them wear shorts/bloomers underneath.
Flip flops and Crocs are not safe in a school setting. We prefer closed toe/closed heel shoes for
safety reasons. Your children love to run and play and we want them to be able to do so in the
     safest way.
Water is available in every classroom if your child wants any during the day.
You may send a cup or water bottle for your child to drink out of during the day. This will be kept
in their Homeroom class and sent home on Fridays. The cup will be washed each evening during
     the week.
No personal toys from home including coins, cars, fidget spinners, etc. are allowed.
All medication must be labeled, in the original container, and written in the medication log
     binder.
The first line of communication is with your Homeroom teacher via Group Me. The second line of
communication is with a Director or Admin team member. Please keep in mind that we are with
children throughout the day, so a response may not be immediate.
A change of clothes needs to be brought so it can be kept in your child’s Homeroom cubbie.
Please include socks and extra shoes if you child is prone to accidents.
You are more than welcome to bring a jacket to leave at school in your child’s cubbie in case
they get cold or for cooler days when we go play outside.

Please sign and return this page to Strawberry Fields Staff on or before August 31st.
