Competition rules
By participating in the competition and/or accepting any prize, all entrants and winners agree to be
bound by the terms and conditions below. The competition is sponsored by Discovery Insure Limited,
registration number 2009/011882/06; DiscoveryCard, operated by Discovery Vitality (Pty) Ltd,
registration number 1999/007736/07; and Discovery Vitality (Pty) Ltd, registration number
1999/007736/07, authorised financial services providers, as well as Uber Technologies, Inc. and 947,
hereafter referred to as ‘We/us/our’:
1. How to play
a. The competition commences at 00:01 on Monday, 12 January 2015 and closes at 23:59 on
Thursday, 29 January 2015. No entries received after 29 January 2015 will be accepted.
b. To qualify as an entrant in the competition you must:
i. Be a resident of Gauteng in the Republic of South Africa;
ii. Be in possession of a valid South African identity document, or a valid passport and
a valid South African driver’s license;
iii. Be 18 years old or older on the date you enter the competition;
iv. Be in good physical health;
v. Be a registered Uber user or have downloaded and registered on the Uber app.

vi. Select a teammate who also complies with the above criteria to compete with you
for the grand prize challenge on 30 January 2015.
c. The competition is not open to Discovery employees, agents, Discovery financial advisers
and/or dealers and their immediate family members, life partners, directors, affiliates,
employees of the promoters, or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is
controlled by Discovery Insure, DiscoveryCard, Discovery Vitality, Uber Technologies, Inc. or
947.
d. The grand prize will be a trip for two to a live football match played by either Arsenal FC,
Liverpool FC or Manchester City FC, in the United Kingdom in 2015.
e. To enter the competition and be eligible for the grand prize, entrants must be existing Uber
users or new users who download and register on the Uber app from 12 January to 22
January 2015.
f. Tune in to 947 for more details and enter by 22 January 2015.
g. Entrants then need to select a teammate to compete with them in the grand prize
challenge taking place in Johannesburg on 30 January 2015, if they are selected as a finalist.
h. Three teams of two participants each will be selected to compete for the grand prize
challenge in Johannesburg on 30 January 2015.i. The grand prize finalists will be selected by random electronic draw. Finalist teams will be
notified telephonically of their selection on 23 January 2015.
j. Finalist teams need to be available to compete for the grand prize between 07:00 and
17:00 on Friday, 30 January 2015. Each team will need to report to a start destination in
Johannesburg, as selected by the organisers, and will receive clues to further destinations
in Gauteng, where they will be required to complete a set task. Finalists will be required to
request either an Uber X or an Uber BLACK vehicle to get to each destination, unless
instructed otherwise. Teams will receive a promo code to pay for each Uber trip. The first
team to complete all the tasks successfully and arrive at the end destination, will win the
grand prize.
k. If a team that has been selected for the grand prize challenge does not wish to participate,
another team will be selected to take their place.
l. If you’re not selected as a finalist, you could still win a trip for two to watch a live football
match in the United Kingdom. All you need to do is correctly guess which one of the
finalist teams will win the challenge on 30 January 2015. Tune in to 947 for more details
and enter between 26 and 29 January 2015.
m. For further updates, tune in to 947, and visit the Discovery Insure and Vitality pages on
Facebook and Discovery’s Twitter page. Look out for the hashtag #DiscoveryUberChallenge.
2. Prizes
a. The grand prize and the prize for correctly guessing the winning team will be a trip for two
to watch either Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC or Manchester City FC in the United Kingdom in
2015:
i. The prize winners will be announced by 947, and on Discovery Insure’s Facebook
page, Discovery’s Twitter page and on www.discovery.co.za.
ii. The validity of the grand prize is from 01 March 2015 to 30 November 2015 only.
iii. Match selection is subject to availability and tickets must be requested with
sufficient notice.
iv. Prize winners must ensure their passports are valid for a minimum of six months
from the date of their return. Please ensure that the name/s you provide to us are
exactly the same as in your passport.
v. Prize winners will have to arrange travel visas, if applicable, as well as travel
insurance for the trip covering personal accidents, medical expenses, emergence
repatriation, lost baggage, and loss of funds through cancellation or curtailment.
vi. The prize includes flights, transfers, breakfast, spending money for additional
meals, and accommodation that is suitable for two adults sharing a room.
b. Entrants stand the chance to win spot prizes (one prize per entry) throughout the
competition period by tuning in to 947.c. Where required, the prize draws will take place in the presence of an independent auditor.
d. The judges’ decision about selecting the prize winners is final and no correspondence will
be entered into.
e. Prizes are non-transferable, non-redeemable for cash, non-upgradeable and cannot be
extended.
f. Where required, prize winners must provide their email address in order for us to process
and facilitate delivery of the prizes. Winners will be asked to supply a valid physical
delivery address, to which the prizes will be delivered.
g. We will not be liable for any costs incurred by the winners in claiming their prizes.
h. Subject to the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, 2008, a prize winner accepts
the prize at his/her own risk. The winners may be required to sign a waiver of liability
and indemnity before claiming the prizes.
i. We reserve the right to substitute any prize with another prize of similar value. Any prize is
accepted by a winner at his/her own risk and neither us, nor our agents will not be liable, at
any time, for any defect in the prize.
3. General
a. Use of the Uber app may incur mobile data charges. You undertake to use the application
at your own cost and with no liability on the part of Discovery or Uber to refund those
costs.
b. All information relating to this competition and published on any promotional material will
form part of the terms and conditions.
c. Discovery Insure, DiscoveryCard, Discovery Vitality, Uber Technologies, Inc. and 947, and
our holding companies, co-subsidiaries and affiliates will not be liable for any technical or
network failures that lead to any competition entry being invalid or not received and we,
our holding companies, co-subsidiaries and affiliates cannot be held responsible for any
technical or network related errors.
d. We reserve the right to require the winners to complete and submit an information
disclosure agreement and indemnification to enable us to ensure compliance with these
rules. Should any of the winners be found not to be compliant with these rules, he/she will
be automatically disqualified.
e. If we are unable to reach any of the winners for whatever reason following all reasonable
attempts to do so, such winners will be disqualified and we reserve the right to draw
another winner in substitution.
f. In the event of a dispute, our decision will be final and binding and no correspondence will
be entered into.g. By entering the competition and/or accepting any prize, the entrants and winners hereby
indemnify us (including our holding companies and affiliates, their directors, employees,
agents, suppliers and contractors) from and against any actions, claims and/or liability for
injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from
participation in the competition, and/or the use, acceptance or possession of a prize,
and/or participation (or non-participation) in a prize-related activity, including, as a result
of any act or omission, whether as a result of negligence, misrepresentation, misconduct,
or otherwise, on our part and/or prizes won pursuant to this competition.
h. We may require the participants and winners (at no fee to the participants and winners) to
be identified, photographed, filmed and the foregoing to be published in any media,
subject to the participants and winners’ rights to decline participating in any such
marketing activities. By participating in this competition, the participants and winners
specifically consent to the publicising of such details and photographs or images.
i. Furthermore, if you are selected to compete for the grand prize, you and your teammate
consent to being available for any additional filming, to be completed after the event,
without any payment.
j. We may collect, store and use any personal information of entrants for communication or
statistical purposes.
k. By entering the competition, you consent to at least one telephonic contact by Discovery
for the purpose of providing you with a quote.

m. We will not be held responsible for any misrepresentation caused due to an unintentional
copy error, typing error or omission that may occur on any of our promotional material.
n. Any violation or attempt to violate any of the above rules will result in the immediate
disqualification of the transgressor.
o. We reserve the right to change or cancel this promotion at our discretion. In the event of
such cancellation or alteration, all participants will waive and abandon any rights they may
have against the promoter, its affiliates or associated companies. Prior notice will be given
to participants in the event of cancellation or alteration.
