all the things our SCC students are doing. This page is to let our community know what our students are
competing in from Hockey to Handball, Rugby to Netball. If a student is competing provincially or nationally
or even in the international stage, please send me an email with a photo and let me know how she got on.

Introduction
Welcome to St Catherine’s College sports information guide for 2021. This booklet provides information to
assist students in their choice of sporting activities. Please give consideration to all other extracurricular
activities, homework, family and church commitments when selecting your sports.

We recommend that students discuss options with parents/guardians before registering.

Registration Process
Please give very careful consideration to your choices before registering. Registration in any sport means
a full season of commitment to that sport.
Sports fees are charged for most sporting codes. Please be aware these do not cover additional costs such as
travel, pool entry and tournament costs.
All sports fees are NON REFUNDABLE and need to be paid in FULL with registration. By registering to play, you
agree to pay this fee, if you have not paid you WILL NOT play. Think carefully about your choices when
registering.

Uniforms
All students are required to wear SCC SPORTS uniform when representing the college in sport. The St
Catherine’s College sport uniform varies from code to code. Uniforms will only be issued when sports fees
have been paid. Each uniform is labelled and issued. The PE uniform is used for a number of codes.

The St Catherine’s College Standard Physical Education uniform is:

   ● Blue SCC polo shirt
   ● Plain black shorts with SCC embroidered
   ● White socks and sports shoes

SCC Training Tops
These can be purchased from your Sports Coordinator. The cost of these is $30.00.

Coaches and Managers
Assistance from parents, caregivers, neighbours and friends in sports teams is welcomed. The St Catherine’s
Sports Programme cannot successfully function without volunteer coaches, umpires and managers. Your
involvement and help is greatly appreciated.

Courses
Coaching and umpiring courses are made available to students and adults throughout the year. St Catherine’s
encourages and supports coaches, managers and players to take advantage of these courses.

Sporting Achievements
We want to celebrate our students. If you know of a St Catherine’s College student who has broken a record
or been chosen for a regional or national team, please tell us. Throughout the year St Catherine’s recognises
the sporting achievements of students. We want to acknowledge and celebrate sporting successes. Please
email sport@scc.school.nz.

Tournaments
Each year a number of our teams go to a tournament.
If your daughter makes one of these teams the cost of the tournament will be discussed with you.
We encourage all teams to be proactive in their raising of funds for these trips early on in the season. It is not
up to the Sports Coordinator to facilitate fundraising.

Sports Awards
This is an annual event held to celebrate School Sports, present Coaching awards and Sports Trophies.

SCC Code of Conduct
        FAITH - Expectations of Behaviour

At all times students, caregivers and members of our community should act according to our expectations
of behaviour. These behaviours can be adapted to a sports setting:
Friendship. We behave in a sporting manner at all time to all players, officials and spectators.
Achievement. Try your best at all times. Play by the rules. Accept responsibility for all actions taken.
Integrity. Do the right thing at the right time? Wear the required uniform, safety equipment when
representing SCC. Be on time and be reliable.
Tolerance. Show great team work and be respectful of the coach's decision.
Hospitality. Show good sportsmanship to others especially when others are visiting SCC.
Once you have signed up for sport you are expected to be committed to the sport and attend all training
sessions and games.

As a parent or caregiver of a SCC student we ask that you comply with the following:
I understand that my daughter is required to make herself available for scheduled matches and practices
and she is to provide adequate warning to her team manager and coach if for any reason she is unable to
attend.
I understand that transport throughout the season may be provided by public transport, school van, parents
or staff cars and I agree to these arrangements.
In the event of illness or an accident, I authorise the obtaining of medical assistance as may be required.

The Principal and/or Sports Coordinator are responsible for ensuring that the expectations of behaviour are
met at all times. If a player or parent behaves in a manner that does not meet the expectations then
relational conversations and consequences (which may include withdrawal from the team or a “stand
down” period) will follow.

We thank parents, caregivers and supporters for the positive encouragement and assistance they provide to
SCC teams and thank you for the good reputation you have helped us establish in the Wellington sporting
community.
