Group Time!
Today we had so much fun learning and playing together! We started off our morning
with a group time, for our group learning we have started exploring the word
“community” the children were asked what it means to them and shouted out the first
word that came to their heads, some of the children said “family”, “school”, “the shops”
and “the park”. It was great to see the children have an understanding towards the
learning. We then read a book together called “whinnies adventures”.i read this book
with the children as it provided them an example of a type of community. We will be
extending on from this learning and further learning about communities and how we
                                can be active participators.
We then did our Abc’s and sang some of our favourite songs together. What a great
                                  start to the week!

Later in the morning, the children joined Miss Sue for another group time learning. When they saw
“We Are Going on A Bear Hunt” story book, they thought Miss Sue was going to read it for them. But
Miss Sue actually planned to use it for the children to practice their story retelling skills and then to
draw a map with them. She encouraged the children to think of the sequences and orders , for exam-
ple, what did the family see at the first and last before they found a bear. Miss Sue used some simple
shapes to represent the family’s house, the bear cave and the different landscapes. The children
watched her with interest, and they engaged in many meaningful conversations with her.

The children also explored some different symbols and discovered the meaning of those symbols
represented, for example, the arrows showed the directions and the lines gave us an idea of the

Before rest, the children also reviewed their knowledge about the dinosaurs, such as the names and
features of different dinosaurs. Then they sang the Dinosaur song with Miss Sue, and roared softly
together (because the babies were sleeping next door, so we needed to be quiet :)).

                                                                                                              — Miss Sue

Todays art !
For our art experience today we decided to let the children take charge! We asked
the children what Easter themed art they would like to do together. The most popu-
lar answer was an “egg”. So we used our imaginations to create a really engaging ex-
perience which was also lot’s of fun. The children had to place sticky tape onto a
template of an egg, they used a variety of colours to decorate the template. After
they had finished this ,they then had to very carefully peal the tape off! Some of the
children struggled with this and had to ask for help.

Inside play
What a fun day to collaborate and play!
We had such a blast today playing together, there
were a variety of different acitivires and experiences
for the children to plaay, scaffold, problem solve and
                     socialise with.
On the tables we had some really cool learning experi-
ences, there was a colour sorting area on one table,
the children had to sort the coloured plastic animals
          into the matching coloured bowls.
There was a table that a variety of different puzzles for
         the children to complete together.
There was some pretend laptops for the children to
role play and explore the alphabet on, this was a big
hit for the children, it was very amusing seeing them
              pretend to be the “teachers”.
Lastly on the ground we had an awesome train and car
set up, it was just like a little city. The children worked
together to set up the different structured tracks and
               buildings around the map.
