Tradition is important to us and while the industry is ever changing, our love of hand-crafted
excellence has endured. Combining centuries-old methods with the latest modern technology, we’re

timber casements and vertical sliding sash windows. Additionally, we also offer single, double and

will contain 1,295 years of specialist experience.
People, History, Heritage
Brothers James and Thomas Allan began their apprenticeship in wood craftsmanship more than 200
years ago, eventually taking over the company from their father, William, when he passed away in
1843.
Their passion for creating the very best in timber windows saw them steadily expand the Berwick
factory until it covered an impressive 8 acres. Just like the knots and grain of a good piece of timber,
the passion and dedication grew too, and is prevelent in everything we do today.

Allan Bros’ timber products are designed to look great for years to come. Research has shown that,
even with low levels of maintenance, they should last at least 60 years; and with more regular care,
can last up to 80 years or more.

Sustainable Timber
All of the softwood timber we use is sourced from certified Forest Stewardship
Council® (FSC®) forests in Northern Scandinavia; so you can rest assured that
our products have come from a sustainable and responsibly managed source.
Our windows are carbon neutral, meaning that they absorb more CO2 from the
atmosphere than they produce.

Our Window Range
Our range of high-performance timber windows combine traditional
craftsmanship with the highest levels of performance.
As standard, our fully glazed windows are supplied with multi-point locking and easy clean hinges,
factory-finished in a choice of 10 colours or 3 wood stains - or upgrade to any RAL colour.
An extensive range to meet your needs
We produce Flush and Stormproof Timber Casements, in addition to Vertical Sliding Sash and
Vertical Slide & Tilt variations.
For modern projects, our Aluminium Clad window range, comprising of Tilt & Turn and casement
options, offers reduced maintenance and an even longer service life.
Our windows are rigorously tested to the latest European and British safety and performance
standards, accredited by independent third parties and Secured by Design.

natural timber. Hung on friction hinges and with a decorative internal moulding on both sash and

Our Vertical Sliding Sash Windows are available in a choice of three operating systems: the authentic,
traditional Cords and Weights mechanism; Spiral Balance, for a modern twist; and the highly versatile
Slide and Tilt.
Our finely crafted sliding sashes are externally or internally beaded according to preference.
We always strive to create the best possible solution for each and every customer, which is why
we offer optional arched frames and decoration bars; four different types of horns and extensive
hardware options.

Safe and easy cleaning
As with Spiral Balance, Slide and Tilt Sash Windows operate
via pre-tensioned springs, but with the additional function
of tilting inwards, which helps to facilitate safe cleaning and
maintenance.
With Slide and Tilt, classical style meets modern practicality
to stunning effect.
Cords and
Weights
Add charm to any building
Used extensively in Britain since the
seventeenth century, sash windows can add
charm to any building, old or new. Achieve a
truly stunning classical effect with a window
operated by cords & weights.
The sashes slide up and down using traditional
pulleys with heavy duty cords and weights.
Simplex fittings can be fitted to the bottom
sash, allowing it to open on butterfly hinges to
facilitate cleaning.

The Scotdoor is the result of over 200 years’ experience in the joinery industry
culminating in the ultimate entrance door.
With 27 door designs to suit all needs and decorative glass options to choose from, when combined
with excellent Thermal and Security performance, the Scotdoor is perfect for New Build and
Renovation projects.
Traditional and contemporary designs
Combining tried and tested Scandinavian technology with traditional British styling, Scotdoors give
exceptional performance against the weather and a high level of resistance to forced entry.
Manufactured to the highest standards using high-end CNC equipment to achieve the exact design
and sizes requested, the composite door slabs and timber frames are
made-to-measure and built to your specification. Using one of the leading coating systems in the
industry, our doors are supplied fully factory-finished, allowing us to offer market leading warranties.
Supplied fully assembled, including frame, door, glazing, locks and handles, allowing for a quick and
easy installation. The Scotdoor range is available with PAS24:2016 certification and is registered with
‘Secured By Design’.
