   Crime Workshop
         2020

   “Hemispheric solutions to hemispheric problems”
Summary

The Inter-American Defense College is pleased to welcome
you to the Workshop on Transnational Organized Crime. This
academic event, which is being held for the first time, would
not have been possible without the collaboration of the nations
of the Western Hemisphere and the support of the United States
   Southern Command.
Organized crime has expanded its activities to all corners
of the American Continent, consolidating itself as one of the
main threats to the security of its countries, the societies that
comprise them, and their citizens. Its effects reach the political,
economic and social spheres, and are expressed in levels of
violence that are among the highest in the world.
Against this background, the Workshop will provide updated
information on organized crime in the Hemisphere, analyzed
by experts. In addition, it will constitute a forum to debate
different interpretations of this scourge and ways to confront it
successfully, with emphasis on interstate cooperation.

   interestatal.
