Documents required for the wedding
• A copy of the first three pages of both passports.
• A copy of both birth certificates (not older than 3 months prior to the wedding date).
• A copy of the certificate of divorce or death certificate (if applicable) or change of name.
• French citizens must also provide a certificate of no impediment.
Conditions
• All wedding documents must be translated into English or French and certified by an official
translator (where applicable).
• A bride who has been divorced and married in the 10 months following her divorce must have a
pregnancy test done. If the test is positive, the civil marriage may not be celebrated in Mauritius.
• All documents must be sent at least 2 months prior to the wedding date.
• Supplement applies for Sundays and Public Holidays.
• Valid as from 05th January 2018 to 22nd December 2018 and applies for the wedding couple only.
Proceedings
• The future bride and groom must go to the civil status office not later than two working days
before the wedding.
• All original documents and affidavit will be checked by a civil status officer.
• The future bride and groom must verify the accuracy of personal data provided by the registrar.
