Located on Colchester Institute’s Colchester campus,
University Centre Colchester (UCC) offers a wide range of
full-time and part-time foundation and honours degrees,
together with HNC/Ds, higher apprenticeships and
postgraduate qualifications.
At UCC, we have a variety of courses for you to choose

Course outline
This exploratory course offers a transition to specialist art and design education,
enabling you to make informed decisions when applying to higher education. You
will be introduced to a range of art and design disciplines, contexts and processes
and supported to build a strong specialist portfolio. Projects are characterised
by experimental and multidisciplinary learning and challenge you to broaden
your technical and conceptual understanding. We introduce the programme by
exploring the core skills of drawing, media experimentation, research and critical
reflection. You will be supported to identify personal strengths and to develop

This exciting course is studied part-time over two years. It is particularly suited to
those wishing to return to education and serves as an ideal preparation for joining
one of our BA (Hons) Art and Design pathways: 3D Design and Craft, Fashion
and Textiles, Fine Art, Graphic Design or Photography. You will be introduced
to a range of art and design practice, engaging in practical hands-on projects

Course outline
This course is designed to explore 3D in its widest context. It allows you to
take functional, conceptual or critical approaches to design and making,
while developing a unique personal language. In the first year the focus is

This unique and extremely successful degree programme aims to develop your
creative and practical skills in both fashion and textiles. The course introduces
you to the importance of research and the design process, along with the
practical disciplines of pattern making, fashion construction and textile print
processes for fashion and interiors. Students can combine both areas of study, or
alternatively may specialise in either discipline after completing year one. Strong
