Construction
VLPRA relies on volunteers in several of
our divisions. We are grateful for all of our
volunteers and the time they devote to
growing an active community.
Opportunities
Volunteer
Youth Athletics: We always need
coaches for soccer, basketball, football,
cheerleading, baseball, and volleyball. Teams
can’t practice or play if there aren’t enough
coaches to staff them. Please consider

volunteering as a coach; the process is
simple and free.
Just go to www.vlpra.com and click
“Volunteer” at the top of the page. It will take

intend to coach.
Special Events
Once your check comes back clear, we will
issue you a badge.
Coaches cannot receive a roster until they

Therapeutics: Our Therapeutics (TR)
Youth
Division serves individuals with special
needs. Each month, we have a social for the
TR Young Adult Club. We would appreciate
help setting up, serving food, cleaning, or

even just dancing with participants at these
socials. We also host local Special Olympics
games twice a year and need assistance
with scoring, handing out ribbons, and

Home to VLPRA’s Administrative, Therapeutics,
Youth Athletics, and Adult Athletics Offices. The
center also has an incredible variety of spaces
and rental facilities. The main building houses
a beautiful sanctuary with a center aisle, an
oak stage, and a sound system that is perfect
for weddings. Receptions can be held in the

same building in our spacious multipurpose
room that offers a divider as well as tables and
chairs. A full-size kitchen and bathrooms are
right down the hall. Just across the parking lot,
you will find the Forrest Street Gym: a heated

volleyball, dance classes, and general recreation.
There’s also a full-size kitchen and restrooms. All
spaces are available for rent!

Everything you could want in a recreation

center! The MHCC has a gym with a full-
size basketball court and pull out bleachers
perfect for hosting games and tournaments.
There’s also a full-size kitchen, breakout
rooms, a kid’s playroom, and a fully

outfitted exercise room with plenty of cardio
equipment and weights. A pristine pool and
patio furniture are outside the center. The
MHCC is home to VLPRA’s basketball and
youth football programs, as well as the RC

The Senior Center is an immensely popular
facility that houses our Senior programs. The
center includes a large multipurpose room
with a full kitchen, an exercise room with
both cardio and weight training equipment,
an indoor heated pool, a library, walking track,
shuffleboard court, and comfortable seating in

the foyer. There are also several breakout rooms
with billiards, cards, and arts and crafts. The Senior
Center is open to individuals 50 years old and up. It
requires a yearly membership fee of $35. Pool
access requires a separate pool pass, also $35 per
person. Anyone living outside of Valdosta/Lowndes
County must pay a $10 out of county fee.

South Lowndes is a community center and park in
one! Outdoor amenities include two adult and two

youth baseball/softball fields, a concession stand with
a covered eating area, restrooms, water fountain, a
full-size playground, and three soccer fields with a
dedicated concession stand and restrooms. There’s
plenty of parking for tournaments and events, as
well as two huge picnic shelters for a full day of fun.

That’s not all: the community center on the other
side of the parking lot features a gymnasium with a
full basketball court and two half-courts as well as
several multipurpose rooms with tables and chairs.

Our portable, hydraulically powered
stage is available for rent. Our staff
will deliver the stage, set it up, take
it down, and stay with the stage for
the duration of your event. The stage
is 32 feet long and almost 24 feet
deep. It’s an open air, outdoor stage

bleacher features a canopy and

VLPRA’s Showmobile is a portable stage with a roof and three walls. The fourth “wall” opens to
reveal the stage itself. The Showmobile’s dimensions are 22 x 16. A PA system, mic stand, tables,
and chairs are also available for rent. VLPRA staff will deliver and pick up the stage as part of

Get your tackle box ready for the VLPRA & Moody AFB Youth Fishing
Rodeo at Grassy Pond. Prizes are awarded for most fish & biggest fish in

the bank or from your own boat ($3 launch fee may apply). Ages 16+
must have valid Georgia fishing license (cannot be purchased on site).

Go camping in the outfield! Boys ages 4 & up can spend the night
on the South Lowndes Ballfield with their father (or adult male family
member) at VLPRA’s Father/Son Campout! Activities will include a
cookout, games, s’mores, night baseball & a movie on the backstop.
Breakfast will be provided Saturday morning. Bring your own tent,
