Natural and organic cosmetics are greatly influencing and changing the cosmetics panorama. While “beauty” is still the main term that comes to mind when we think about cosmetic products, an increasing number of consumers expect to find “sustainable”, “environmentally friendly” and “ethical” qualities in the cosmetics they purchase. Natural and organic cosmetics represent these in an authentic way as they are part of their core v alues and commitment not only to human wellbeing, but also to the protection of the env ironment and biodiv ersity. Apart from prov iding natural protection and care to our skin, natural and organic
cosmetics also help us keep our well-being in-check. Their representation of nature
through natural fragrances and delicate textures makes us feel closer to it and
awakens our senses.
Indeed, many natural essential oils from plants such as lav ender, rose or mint are
used in aromatherapy as they help to activ ate, relax and soothe our bodies.
Natural or organic cosmetics are not just beauty products, but a recreation of

REASON 2: A more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach The use of a div erse range of natural and organic raw materials requires that the biodiv ersity of wildlife habitats is protected, and that a sustainable production of v arious plant and flower species is preserv ed. Methods such as organic farming and biodynamic agriculture, which are strongly supported by many NATRUE member companies who obtain their ingredients directly from their own gardens, guarantee more sustainable sourcing and contributes to biodiversity preservation. A principal v alue for natural and organic cosmetics is that they must be in harmony with nature, including the impact of packaging and packaging materials used. Apart from limiting the use of plastics in packaging and using recycled materials, many natural and organic beauty brands are going a step further by developing innovative formats that are contributing to a drastic reduction of packaging in their products. Natural and organic beauty brands are often small and
medium enterprises (SMEs) whose production is mostly carried
out at local, regional or national lev el.
A more local production can contribute to more sustainable
and potentially shorter supply chains, as well as to a more
personal, authentic image of the brand.
Regarding ingredients sourcing, partnerships between natural
and organic beauty brands and local farming communities in
dev eloping countries are becoming v ery common.
Through ethical sourcing collaborations, we can support the
social and economic dev elopment of such communities while
ensuring that the sourcing upon the natural resources from

COSMOS ORGANIC CERTIFICATION
Cosmos Organic is the set of guidelines for organic cosmetics, recognized on a
European and international level. Since 31/12/2016, all new organic cosmetic
products must be certified and approved in accordance with the Cosmos
standard, and no longer by the individual national bodies.
WHAT DOES COSMOS ORGANIC DO?
The standard lays down the requisites that must be met for a cosmetic to be
classified as organic and natural. The entire production chain is checked in line
with the principles of sustainability, respect for biodiversity, responsible use of
natural resources and respect for human health and the environment.
VEGAN CERTIFICATION
Bio+ line cosmetics are made according to standards for vegan cosmetics.
Vegan cosmetic certification guarantees compliance with the principles of a
vegan lifestyle. Strict checks attest not only to the nonanimal origins of the raw
materials but also exclude any traces of the same due to the process used to
obtain these ingredient s.

The Cosmos Organic standards apply to all commercialized natural and biological

Cosmetic formulation of the BIO+ line are composed of

bio diversity.
We used organic farming ingredients grown according to Cosmos 834
regulations, whose impact is greatly minimized unlike conventional farming.
We have harmonized our formulas to ensure that the active ingredients chosen
have all been subjected to skin tolerance and efficacy tests.
