Chairman’s Message
Dear Parents,
Welcome to NurtureStars’ Annual Graduation Concert 2020! This year, as
with most face-to-face gatherings, our graduation concert has gone virtual.
Without needing to explain, you will agree with me that 2020 has been
extremely challenging in every sense. When the circuit breaker suddenly
dawned upon us, we had to innovate in the conduct of home-based learning for our NurtureStars children.
When our students were allowed back to school, new measures had to be implemented to ensure the
safety of everyone – students, teachers, staff & parents. There were new protocols for the sanitization of
our centres, screening of visitors and the management of those who were sick. Even our teachers’ training
had to be conducted via zoom for the first time.
Amidst these challenges, we saw the resilience of our people – our teachers, students and even the
parents of our students from NurtureStars. They have demonstrated their spirit of unity, perseverance and
adaptability to changing and challenging times. And so, the theme of our graduation concert today
is appropriately titled “Singapore, United as One”. Our children will present a music & dance featuring
Singapore’s past and present - something which their parents & grandparents would be familiar with. You
will see a display of “strength”, “courage” and “determination” from our K2 students.
There is something special about the 100 K2 students who are graduating today. All of them have been
with NurtureStars since they infants or toddlers. They spent their formative years at one of our 6 NurtureStars
centres. We are proud of them and extend our best wishes to them as they progress to their next milestone
in life.
Today’s concert would not have been possible without the hard work of the all the NurtureStars Principals,
Teachers and Staff. They have worked tirelessly to maintain a high standard of performance year after
year. Please join me in applauding and thanking them for their commitment and dedication.
Finally, I want to thank all parents who have entrusted the care of your children to us. It is our joy and
privilege to see them grow and develop into healthy and confident individuals. Thank you for your support.

NurtureStars: 2010 – 2020
Nurturing A Fitter, Sharper Younger Generation
NurtureStars turns 10 this year! Born from a sturdy collaboration between Singapore
Armed Forces Reservist Association (SAFRA) and Kinderland Educare Services Pte Ltd in
2010, our mission is to nurture our future generations to be stronger in bodies and
sharper in minds. The NurtureStars curriculum reflects this mission, integrating the
unique physical fitness programme from JACPA (Japan) with Kinderland’s
established expertise in early childhood curriculum design. JACPA is
the largest pre-schooler physical education
organization in Japan.
The first NurtureStars Preschool started at
Mount Faber in 2010. In 2016, we opened
our 6th centre at SAFRA Punggol.

In our wonderful journey during the last 10 years, NurtureStars Preschool has chalked up many
memorable accolades. These include the Platinum Singapore HEALTH Award 2019 (Healthy Pre-school),
the ASSETS Best Employer Award 2018 (Childcare operator with 50 employees or more) and the NSMark
by The Advisory Council for Community Relations in Defence (ACCORD) in 2018.
Our little NurtureStars preschoolers have left their own footprints in Singapore too, raising more than
$77,000 for the aged and frail at Ju Eng Home, our CSR partner since 2015.
An ECDA-Appointed Childcare Partner Operator
(POP) from January 2021
With all NurtureStars preschools appointed under the POP scheme, parents can now
access the same quality educational and child care services alongside with SAFRA club
facilities and amenities, at even more affordable fees.

NurtureStars Curriculum
Unique Active Learning Curriculum
NurtureStar’s unique Active Learning Curriculum
promotes mental and physical development
through hands-on participation and multi-
sensory, result-oriented learning experiences.
Guided by a team of dedicated teachers, these
movement-based opportunities allow children
to build confidence and reinforce their sense
of progress and accomplishment while honing
their skills.
In addition, available facilities at SAFRA clubs are

Coding
NurtureStars has introduced coding into the
curriculum programme to prepare our children for
the digital era as the nation move towards building

Social Responsibility
Start Small Dream Big
The childhood community "Start Small Dream Big"
inculcates good values in our children. No one can
do everything, but everyone can do something!
Children participated in a carnival where the proceedings
went to Ju Eng Home for the elderly.

10Raising Funds for Senior Citizens at Ju Eng Home
In conjunction with Children Day, our
centres started the Little Entrepreneur
Project 2020 to raise funds for needy
senior citizens with the theme “Magic
of Giving”.
Teachers and children brainstormed
and came up with ideas of
doing a fun-raising charity event
by putting up paintings, food
and stationery for our children to sell.
Parents purchased coupons in advance
from their children and redeemed them
for games. Parents assisting the centre to deliver the donation items to Ju Eng Home.
Much thought and preparation were
put in to make the event a success.
With encouragement and support from
the parents, our children managed to
successfully raise a total of $12,820.
On behalf of Ju Eng Home for Senior
Citizens, we would like to thank everyone
for their support and generosity.
Our K2 children assisted in sorting and packing the items.

11Family Involvement
Mother’s Day & SAF Day Celebrations
Mother’s Day
Mothers are everything but our young children
were at loss how to express their love in words and
deeds. So when Mother’s Day came in May, our
teachers at all six NurtureStars preschools went
online to help our young ones create something
special at home for their mothers.
SAF Day
In appreciation of our NSmen’s contributions
towards national defence, our teacher taught
the children the importance of defence and how
we all can do our part to protect Singapore. As
NurtureStars has its roots in SAFRA, this is part of our
efforts to promote national service and inculcate
appropriate appreciation and understanding of
the importance of national defence.
