26 Weeks to 12 Months At Maples, we foster strong and meaningful relationships with children. From birth, children commence to navigate their learning through building meaningful and trusting relationships with others. Our curriculum provides endless opportunities for children to explore, discover and investigate the world around them.
Squish Squish
Shaving Cream in a Bag
You will need the following resources:
• Shaving cream
• Large zip lock bag
Method
1. Spray shaving cream into the zip lock bag.
2. Make sure the zip lock bag is securely closed and place on
the floor for your baby to explore.
Optional:
You can add paint or food dye to the shaving cream to
explore colours.
4In, Out, Up and Down!
Basket weaving
You will need the following resources:
• Wire Basket
• Different lengths of ribbon or wool
Method
1. Cut the ribbons and wool into small strips.
2. Weave each piece from one side of the basket to the other
Side. Continue until you have used all the ribbons and wool.
3. Leave the ends loose, as you want your baby to pull the
ribbons out of the basket.
512 Months to 3 Years At Maples, we encourage all children to explore their world through the natural environment. Our environment curriculum provide opportunities for children to explore their curiosities and discover new interests through a range of resources.
Bush Tucker
Nature cooking
You will need the following resources:
• Old pots and pans
• Herbs, leaves and sticks
Method
1. Ask your child to collect a variety of natural ingredients from
your home gardens or while on a walk.
2. Set up an outdoor cooking area, where your child can mix
and stir all the ingredients.
3. Ask lots of questions such as: How many can you count?
I wonder what would happen if? What does it smell like?
Optional:
You could set this up in the sandpit or cubby house to
encourage more dramatic play. Invite your child's favourite
teddy or doll to taste their creatations or join in.
7Fine Motor Skills
Threading
You will need the following resources:
• Hole punch
• Scissors
• String
• Old cards or cardboard
Method
1. Cut cards and cardboard into small pieces
2. Hole punch at the top of each card, ready to thread.
3. Cut a length of string for your child.
4. Show your child how to thread the string through the hole
punch, then ask them to continue.
Optional:
These could be made into a necklace for someone special.

Providing opportunities for children to navigate their learning with key learning concepts such as mathematics, literacy, dramatic play, science and discovery. Our educational program promotes positive social connection and friendship, which enables a sense of belonging to the environment.
Literacy is Everywhere
Letter Cutting
You will need the following resources:
• Magazines
• White paper
• Glue stick
• scissors
Method
1. Using the magazines, encourage your child to look for letters
of their name. If required, write their name for them to copy.
2. Once your child finds a letter, they can cut it out using the
scissors, then glue it onto the paper.

Paper Plate Drawing
You will need the following resources:
• Left over Paper plates from a party
• Textas
• Coloured pencils
• Crayons
Method
1. Ask your child to draw on the paper plate using any of the art
materials.
2. Let your child's imagination run free.
Optional:
Ask your child to draw their family members, friends
or favourite toy.

We have put together a short scavenger hunt which incorporates our key learning areas in a fun and creative way.
