A Note
From Meg
It has been a personal dream to cater events at La Venta since I founded Made by Meg
catering in . The perfect dish needs a perfect setting and La Venta Inn is just that.
It was a great honor to write the next chapter in the La Venta legacy in . It’s the pinnacle
of Southern California events. The unbeatable views, inspiring history, and romantic character
blended so seamlessly. I knew we would cater here one day, and now here we are!
When I got the keys, I cracked the doors to a venue that hadn’t entertained a single guest in
many months. The building and entire aesthetic needed to move into this next chapter with
elegance and function. In the span of months, we swept the year old grounds and
interiors with updates, upgrades and so much love.
When we held our very first event I witnessed every ounce of effort and faith come to life. La
Venta opened her arms wide and sparkled with the joy of gathering once again. La Venta is
magical, it is enveloping and it will be here to remember your special day for another years.
Every day - without fail - someone wanders onto the grounds to share their unique story with
the property. We hope, one day, that we can make those lasting memories for you at La Venta.
Then you can come back to share that moment with your future children and their children.

The
Ceremony
Lawn
Our famous ceremony lawn overlooks the
Pacific Ocean, and Los Angeles county to the
north. On most days, you can see the Santa
Monica mountains, purple on the horizon as
well as the various beach towns bustling
along the coast. While some of our couples
host their ceremony off-site, most opt to use
the ceremony here on the Palos Verdes stone
platform. We provide all ceremony seats, up
to . Special features include hidden
ceremony speakers, hidden power outlets,
new St. Augustine grass, a Palos Verdes stone
veranda and walkway, optional heaters and
overhead lights.

Ballroom
With its original, hand-hewn ceilings and
gorgeous fireplace, the sq. foot
ballroom beautifully accommodates a
space to dance while overlooking the entire
Los Angeles skyline. The ballroom has six
doors that swing wide open into the fresh
ocean breeze. Featuring new floors, new
speakers, and stylish chandeliers, the
ballroom captures the charm of the

Courtyard
The Courtyard features a Spanish fountain with historic blue tile
that acts as a centerpiece during your joyful and bubbly cocktail
hour. The , sq. foot courtyard has Palos Verdes stone
walkways, european-style arbors with crawling flowering vines.
You can look up at the iconic cupola and hear background music
through our new speaker system. Special features include:

delicious grazing stations.

Rooms
Our dining rooms host the most magical moments. It’s all
about the food. The massive windows in the Garden Rooms
and adjacent Middle Room overlook the ocean to the north
and our lush gardens to the east. The unique open doors and
multi-leveled floor plan creates character, as if you’re inviting
guests into your home. The garden rooms total , sq. feet in
size. Special features include new speakers, wireless mic, new
carpet, and new gold sconces.

Cottage
The Ocean Cottage was built in on the
west side of the property overlooking the
Pacific Ocean. Perfectly placed so that you can
exit and walk directly to the ceremony at the
right moment, this cottage allows for a tranquil
pre-ceremony experience. Designed for the
bridal party to get ready, the ocean cottage
provides a remodeled bathroom, make-up
stations and picture-perfect details at
every turn.
Ocean Cottage Amenities
The cottage includes designer light fixtures,
rugs, and other design elements sure to set the
perfect romantic tone to your day. We provide
beautiful mirrors, excellent lighting, air
conditioning, and even a bluetooth speaker so
you can set the mood as you prepare for your
wedding. Surrounding the Ocean cottage are
perfect first look photo session spots. Be sure
to make time for photos in the historic
keyhole lookout.

The Hideaway Suite lies hidden behind the
venue, surrounded by palm trees and bamboo.
With loads of privacy, sound proofing, and
sunshine, this is the perfect area for the groom
and groomsmen. The gentlemen can prep and

living room, and getting-ready room with
wardrobes.

The suite includes designer light fixtures, new

Questions
Q: WHAT IS THE TIMING FOR MY WEDDING?
Morning packages include a am guest arrival time and a am
ceremony with a lunch reception to follow. Evening packages include a
am guest arrival time and a pm ceremony, depending on time of
year to catch sunset. Partial day rentals include hours of exclusive
access to the property. Amplified music is turned off minutes before
guest departure Morning pm Evening pm .
Q: HOW MUCH TIME IS ALLOWED FOR SET-UP AND CLEAN-UP?
With a full day buyout, your vendors may come in as early as am.
With a morning or evening package, your vendors will have an hour and
half before guests arrive. We have done this successfully at this venue
for over years and all our favorite vendors have most of their decor or
equipment ready to go in their vehicles upon arrival. After the event, all
decor and vendor supplies must be taken down by departure time. A fee
will be applied if this is not adhered to. Tents and other large rentals need
to be scheduled for removal from La Venta by an agreed upon time the
next business day if available.
Q: WHAT IS THE TIMING FOR A CEREMONY REHEARSAL?
A ceremony rehearsal can be hosted a day or more prior to your wedding
depending on availability. Rehearsal fee is $ and includes one full
hour on the property. The La Venta team can provide a list of
recommendations for your rehearsal dinner.
Q: DO YOU ALLOW DECORATIONS?
Yes! We welcome decorations, such as flowers, electric candles, and
lighting. We do not allow anything to be applied to the walls or building
that will cause damage such as nailing into the walls or affixing with
tape. As this is a historic property we do not allow sparklers, live flames,
or confetti. We permit loose flower petals and ask that you designate
your florist or coordinator to clean up the pedals after the event.

31Q: WHAT TYPE OF MUSIC IS PERMITTED?
The ballroom is designed for either live bands or DJs. All amplification
must come from our house sound system. We have an exclusive
contract with the # ranked DJ group in The South Bay.
Q: DO YOU HAVE ANY GUIDELINES CONCERNING DEPARTURES?
We love seeing that final departure photo and happily permit bubbles or
LED style celebration items.
Q: WHEN DO I HAVE ACCESS TO THE OCEAN COTTAGE?
You and your bridal party have full access to the Ocean Cottage starting
as soon as your time block begins, as early as am. You may leave
your belongings in the Cottage for the duration of the event, but all
personal items must be collected by the end of your event.
Q: IS A COORDINATOR INCLUDED?
Since we are the venue and the caterer, we focus exclusively on
executing those portions of your wedding. Therefore, we require clients
to hire a Professional Planner—whether it be full or partial coordination.
Your coordinator is your point person who matches your style, vision,
and personality. You will need someone to tell the DJ when to start and
stop and to tell you when to walk down the aisle at the right moment.
Q: CAN YOU RECOMMEND ANY LOCAL VENDORS?
There’s a tremendous amount of local talent and vendors we love
working with. If you book your date with La Venta, you receive a PDF
called the Next Steps Packet that shows local vendors, local hotels,
sample itineraries and more.
Q: ARE TENTS INCLUDED IN YOUR PRICING?
No. If you would like to rent a tent and the associated accessories please

Food & Beverage FAQ.
Our Made by Meg team is filled with seasoned professionals with a depth
of experience. When you receive your catering specialist, they will work
with you to design a menu and then send you a complete proposal.
Afterwards, you will schedule an in person tasting. As we are a licensed
catering operation and hold a liquor ABC license, we will provide your
needs for beer, wine and liquor.
Q: IS THERE A FOOD AND BEVERAGE MINIMUM?
Yes. The minimum Food and Beverage spends are listed on page .
Food and Beverage Minimums are exclusive of tax and production fees.
Q: MAY WE BRING IN AN OUTSIDE CATERER?
With the exception of wedding cake, we cannot allow outside food and
beverages. Made by Meg must provide all of your food and beverage
items. Please inquire about dessert displays.
Q: MAY I OFFER A CHOICE OF ENTREES?
We ask that all entree selections and final meal counts are submitted
days prior to your event, so we may properly prepare. We do not offer
tableside entree selections during your event. Our chef composed
entrees can accommodate guests with dietary restrictions, including
vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, lactose intolerance and other allergies.
Q: WHEN DO YOU NEED THE FINAL HEAD COUNT?
Final food and beverage guest count numbers must be received no later
than days prior to the event.
Q: DOES MADE BY MEG PROVIDE A WEDDING CAKE?
We do not provide a wedding cake or storage for early deliveries, but we
have a great list of local wedding cake bakers. Made by Meg will provide
the cutting, serving and bussing of cake to your guests.

34Q: DO YOU OFFER KIDS MEALS?
We do offer a kids meal for children and under, including hors
d’oeuvres for seated dinners. We do not charge for children under the
age of .
Q: CAN WE BRING IN OUR OWN ALCOHOL?
As the licensed caterer Made by Meg has its own ABC Full Liquor License
to provide your event with the appropriate alcoholic beverage needs.
Due to liability and service standards we do not allow a client to provide
their own alcohol.
Q: DOES THE BAR PACKAGE INCLUDE NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS?
Yes. Bar packages include soft drinks and other non-alcoholic bar
standards club soda, tonic water and juice .
Q: IS THE BAR PACKAGE CHARGED PER PERSON?
Yes. All adult guests over years old are charged the selected bar
package at an hourly rate. Children and guests under are charged the
non- alcoholic package rate of $ . per person.
Q: WHAT IS THE PAYMENT SCHEDULE?
A deposit to save your date includes % of the venue and % of the
catering minimum. Production fee, tax, and security deposit are due
upon your final payment two weeks before your event. We do not hold
dates on a tentative basis.
Q: WHAT IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT?
A$ , damage security deposit is required for weekend events. This is
to cover potential damage by your guests, and will be refunded ten
business days following the event. If any damages have occurred, you
will be notified, and we will bill you for any repairs over and above the
deposit.
Q: WHAT IF MY FINAL GUEST COUNT CHANGES?
When signing your contract, you are committing to a guaranteed
minimum expenditure for food and beverage based on your estimated
guest count regardless of your actual attendance. If your guest count
were to decrease we would reduce your total due down to this
guaranteed minimum. If your guest count is much lower, then we’d
increase value per guest with your menu selections.
